Here are my spreads from March - May! June is still a work in progress and will be included in my next update :)
- I find myself forgetting to do my journal due to a lot of issues I’m having (putting my journal in a place I don’t reach for everyday, getting distracted, etc.)
-although I didn’t completely fill out my months… I created the spreads and I had fun doing it! I’m trying to cater it to my needs as best as I can and sometimes that’s creating more charts for me to fill out or in marches case, none at all! But what my goal for the year was to have a spread for each month and so far I’m 5/5 (6 work in progress)
... Read moreHey fellow journal enthusiasts! You saw a peek into my March-May bullet journal spreads, and I wanted to chat a bit more about making your bujo work for YOU, especially as we head into spring. Getting those April bullet journal pages set up can be so much fun, and I've learned a few things along the way that might help if you're like me and sometimes struggle with consistency.
When I was planning my April spread, I loved incorporating themes that felt right for the season. You saw my umbrella drawing – it’s a classic for April showers, right? But beyond just cute doodles, thinking about what April means to you can really make your pages shine. Maybe it’s planning for an important date like a Graduation, or simply tracking spring cleaning tasks. I found that adding trackers for things like my mood, water intake, pages read, and even money spent really helped me stay mindful, even when I wasn't filling every single day. It's about finding those little ways to incorporate what matters to you.
One of my biggest takeaways from my own journey, as I mentioned in my update, is that it’s totally okay if your bullet journal isn’t 'perfect' or fully filled out every single day. There were times in April, just like March and May (especially when I was busy starting my May spread at the airport for my Greece trip!), when life just got in the way. Instead of letting that discourage me, I've started to see my bujo as a flexible tool. My goal was to at least have a spread for each month, and I’m proud I’m achieving that!
So, how do we keep up the momentum without feeling overwhelmed? Here are a few personal tips that have helped me:
Keep it Visible: My biggest mistake was putting my journal away where I wouldn't see it daily. Now, it lives on my desk or bedside table. Out of sight, out of mind is real!
Start Small: Don't feel pressured to fill every blank space. Sometimes, just writing down one goal (like 'Apply for 6 jobs' that I had in March), or tracking one habit, is enough for the day. Consistency over perfection, always!
Embrace the Imperfection: Your bullet journal is a personal space. It doesn't have to look like those picture-perfect spreads on Pinterest. My April spread with the umbrella wasn't meticulously planned, but it brought me joy.
Make it Fun & Practical: If you enjoy creating charts or using stickers, do it! If you prefer a minimalist approach, that's great too. The key is to cater it to your needs. For me, adding those trackers for mood, water, and pages read makes it practical.
Reflect and Adjust: After each month, take a moment to look back. What worked? What didn't? For instance, I realized in March that sometimes I needed no charts, and that was okay! This reflection helps me adapt my spreads for the next month, like how I approached May's pink and purple accents.
Ultimately, your bullet journal is a reflection of your life and your journey. It's about progress, not perfection. Whether you’re planning your St. Patrick's Day activities in March, tracking your spring goals in April, or dreaming of a Greece trip in May, enjoy the process and let your creativity flow. I hope seeing my bullet journal photos gives you some ideas for your own spreads!
