Would you wear this crochet scarf?! 🧣

Easy Scarf Pattern

Materials: 1-2 large skeins of weight 6 yarn and a 9mm crochet hook.

🧣 Row 0: Chain how long you want your scarf to be. I chained 175 for this length. You may want to chain shorter or longer depending on your preference.

🧣Row 1: In the second chain on your hook, Half-double crochet in every foundation chain of the row. Once you create your last stitch, chain 1 and then your work.

🧣 Row 2-8: Half double crochet back loop only (HDC-BLO) in every stitch of the row. Chain 1 to turn your work at the end of each row. Remember your chain 1 doesn’t count as a stitch!

🧣 Once you complete the body of your scarf, fasten off and weave in your ends.

🧣 Optional: add tassels to your scarf by cutting ~18 inch strands of yarn and attaching them to the ends of your scarf using your crochet hook!

... Read moreIf you are new to crochet or looking for a quick and rewarding project, this easy scarf pattern using weight 6 yarn and a 9mm crochet hook is a perfect choice. The half double crochet back loop only (HDC-BLO) stitch featured here gives the scarf a distinct ribbed texture that is both visually appealing and cozy. Begin by chaining your desired length for the scarf—175 chains is a great length for a standard scarf but feel free to customize based on personal preference. The first row of half double crochet stitches sets a sturdy base, while rows 2 to 8 worked only in the back loops create that unique ridged effect. This technique also adds a subtle stretch and flexibility, making the scarf comfortable to wear. Once you have completed the body, finishing is simple—fasten off and weave in all yarn ends to give your scarf a clean look. Adding tassels is an optional step that can add flair and personality; using 18-inch strands attached at each end can make your scarf stand out as a fashion statement. This pattern’s simplicity makes it perfect for beginners looking to gain confidence with half double crochet stitches and learn the HDC-BLO technique. The ribbed look achieved with this stitch is trendy and versatile for both casual and more polished winter outfits. Overall, this crochet scarf project combines ease, style, and customization. Whether you're making it as a gift or for yourself, it’s a charming accessory to add to your winter wardrobe.
