Now, let's talk about lemons – this was one of those things I also wondered about! Can rabbits eat lemons? The general consensus among experienced rabbit owners and vets is NO. Citrus fruits like lemons, limes, and oranges are very acidic. This acidity can be really harsh on a rabbit's sensitive digestive system and can cause stomach upset. So, even though they might look curious, it's best to steer clear of anything citrusy for your bunny. Better safe than sorry when it comes to their tummies! When introducing any new treat, especially fruit, always do it slowly. Give a tiny piece and then wait 24-48 hours to observe your bunny. Are their droppings normal? Are they eating and behaving as usual? If everything seems fine, you can offer it again in a tiny amount. If you notice any changes, like soft stools or a decrease in appetite, stop immediately.
