People assume so much.
Sometimes I post a photo or a video and people think, “Wow, she’s doing amazing.” But the truth is — that smile might’ve lasted only long enough for the camera to click. That event might’ve looked fun, but maybe I was there alone, doing PR, showing up because I had to, not because I felt like it.
Social media has a way of blurring reality. You see the highlight, the filtered version, the “I’m okay” face — but not the silence after, not the exhaustion, not the moments of trying to hold it all together when it feels like everything’s falling apart inside.
The truth is, nobody really knows what someone is going through. People don’t always stop to ask, “How are you really?” And some of us — we have to show up no matter what. Because it’s our job, our brand, our livelihood.
So next time you scroll and assume someone’s life is perfect, remember: sometimes that smile is just professionalism. Sometimes that glow comes with tears behind the scenes.
