It truly is a unique blend of art and nature, making it one of the best things to do in New Jersey for a memorable day out. While my fall visit was absolutely breathtaking with all the vibrant autumn foliage, I can only imagine how beautiful and fresh it looks now in spring with everything blooming. No matter the season, one thing is certain: wear comfortable shoes because you'll want to explore every single corner! The grounds are expansive, offering winding paths through beautifully landscaped gardens where art pops up unexpectedly, often blending seamlessly with its natural surroundings. One of the things that struck me most was the sheer diversity and creativity of the art. You'll find everything from incredibly realistic pieces, like the striking sculpture of a reclining nude woman accompanied by a powerful black panther-like creature, to thought-provoking abstract metallic sculptures that reflect in tranquil ponds, creating stunning visual effects. There are also whimsical and immersive scenes, such as a group of people picnicking in a wooded area, some even nude, which really makes you feel like you've stumbled upon a secret gathering. My family loved trying to spot all the hidden gems, like the woman in a flowing dress kneeling amongst the leaves, lost in contemplation. It's not just about viewing; it's about experiencing. We saw life-sized sculptures of musicians, complete with trombonists and trumpeters, that made you feel like you'd stumbled into a live jazz performance. And yes, some pieces are so inviting, like the bronze men in hats and coats, that even a young child might be tempted to reach out and touch them (though looking is best to preserve the art!).
