As someone who has spent a lot of time scrolling through TikTok and observing trends, I’ve noticed that hashtags like #fyp, #foryou, and #tiktok play a crucial role in how videos gain visibility and go viral. The #fyp, or 'For You Page,' is essentially the main feed where TikTok curates videos based on your interests and previous interactions. Creators use this tag in hopes that the algorithm will feature their content on more users’ For You Pages. The #foryou hashtag serves a similar purpose, acting as a signal to the algorithm that your video is meant to be recommended widely. It’s interesting to see how the proper use of these hashtags can significantly increase the number of views and engagement a video receives. Meanwhile, #tiktok is a more general hashtag that connects content to the platform itself and is often used by creators trying to increase their discoverability. From personal experience, combining these popular hashtags thoughtfully with unique and engaging content can drastically enhance your chances of reaching new audiences. However, it's equally important to focus on creating genuine, creative videos that resonate with viewers rather than just relying on hashtags for traffic. Over time, I found that engaging with viewers through comments and trends also helps build a community around your content, making your TikTok experience more rewarding.
