Wandering Believers
(Full video on TikTok) #jesuslovesyou
It's a tough feeling, isn't it? Watching someone you care about, a fellow believer, start to drift away from their faith. Or maybe, you've found yourself in that 'wandering' space, feeling a bit like a daydreamer lost in thought, questioning things. I've been there, and I know many of us have. It's so easy to get caught up in the allure of our secular world, where temptations can be incredibly enticing. Whether it's the constant scroll of social media influence subtly shifting our values, or even friends peer-pressuring us into choices we know deep down aren't right, the path can get blurry. The message from James 5:19-20 really resonates with me: 'My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.' It's a powerful call to action, but it's crucial how we respond. The wisdom to 'gently reel them back in a loving manner' is the absolute key. My experience has shown that confronting someone with harsh judgment rarely works. Instead, it often pushes them further away. What truly makes a difference is coming from a place of genuine love and curiosity. You can even start by simply asking, 'What led you to the decisions that you're making?' or 'How are you truly feeling about things lately?' Often, people just need to feel heard, not judged. They need a safe space to express their doubts and struggles without fear of condemnation. Think about the pressures we face daily that can lead to wandering. Social media, for instance, often presents an idealized, materialistic version of happiness that can make our faith journey feel less exciting or relevant. It's a powerful force, and understanding its influence is vital. When we see someone 'wandering,' it's not always a complete rejection of faith, but sometimes a distraction, a momentary lapse, or a battle they're fighting internally. They might be wrestling with doubts, feeling disconnected, or simply overwhelmed by life's challenges. Our role isn't to fix them, but to walk alongside them. Remember, it's never too late to turn to God for forgiveness. And it's never too late for us to extend that same grace and understanding to others. If you're a 'wandering believer' yourself, feeling caught between your convictions and the world's demands, take heart. God's grace is abundant, and He's always ready to welcome you back. If you see one of your fellow believers going astray, approach them with compassion, not condemnation. Share your own journey, your struggles, and how you find strength. It's through these real, honest conversations, rooted in love, that we can truly help each other find our way back to the truth and the peace that comes from a deep connection with Jesus.
