It’s such a beautiful escape right within the city, boasting stunning panoramic views of the Detroit skyline and even Windsor, Canada, across the river. I found myself strolling through the historic Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, admiring the lush plant collections, and then popping into the Belle Isle Aquarium – which, fun fact, is the oldest operating aquarium in the U.S.! The expansive green spaces are perfect for a leisurely walk, a bike ride, or simply finding a quiet spot to reflect. I also checked out the iconic James Scott Memorial Fountain and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, which offers fascinating insights into maritime history. Parking is usually available nearby the Graffiti Bridge, and it’s a very casual, walk-around kind of place, so wear comfortable shoes! Don't forget your camera or phone – you'll want to capture all the amazing, ever-changing art, and the scenic views from Belle Isle.
