You can always come home 🤍

No matter the miles,

no matter the years,

no matter the laughter,

or the weight of the tears—

There's a light in the window,

a door open wide,

a place where your heart

never needs to hide.

The world may be heavy,

your path may feel long,

but here you'll find rest,

and the roots to be strong.

Through triumph or heartbreak,

in silence or storm,

this love will remain—

unchanging, warm.

So wander, be fearless,

let your story be known...

and remember, my daughters,

you can always come home.

- love always, mom

... Read moreWriting that poem for my two daughters was truly a moment of pouring my heart out. Every line came from a deep place of love and a desire to give them something concrete to hold onto as they navigate life. When I imagine them grown, perhaps facing challenges or celebrating triumphs, I always come back to the same core message: you can always come home. It’s more than just a physical house; it’s the reassurance of unconditional support that I wanted to convey. I’ve seen so many mothers share similar sentiments, and it truly speaks to the unique bond we have with our girls. Life can be incredibly tough, and I want them to know that this place, our home, will always be their sanctuary. If they ever feel alone, misunderstood, or overwhelmed by the world, I hope they remember that my arms, and our home, are always open. I think about all the different ways they might need to 'come home.' Perhaps it's a safe return home if relationships fail, a place where they can mend their hearts without judgment. Or maybe, when they're older, they experience financial burdens that seem too much to bear; I want them to know refuge is here. We all make mistakes, and I want to foster an environment of forgiveness and understanding, a supportive place to return home if they make mistakes, big or small. It’s about building a foundation of trust so strong that they never hesitate to reach out. As they grow, mental health struggles can unfortunately arise. My hope is they'll always see our home as a supportive place if mental health struggles arise, a safe haven where they can talk openly, seek comfort, and find the help they need. This isn't just about childhood; it’s a lifetime promise. No matter how far they wander, how successful they become, or what unexpected turns their paths take, home will always be theirs. It’s the constant in a world full of changes. Watching my two beautiful daughters grow has been the greatest joy. They bring so much laughter, and yes, sometimes tears, but it all deepens that incredible bond. My wish for them, and for all daughters, is to know they are truly loved, seen, and supported, always. This poem is just a small way to express that boundless, enduring love.
