I don’t think I ever realized how much healing changes the smallest parts of our lives. Because at first, you pray for the big things. Prayers where you’re asking God to just help you make it through a day without your thoughts running ahead of you, or for the grief to become bearable again so you don’t have to cry yourself to sleep anymore, and for the weight in your chest to stop feeling permanent. The strangest part about healing is that it almost never arrives the way you imagined it would. Because one day, almost imperceptibly, life begins to return in the most ordinary ways. Healing just has this way of arriving without announcing itself. Where you wake up and find yourself choosing beauty again so you buy the flowers. Or pick up that old hobby that used to make you smile. Maybe you laughed a little louder and didn’t feel guilty about it. I think healing first starts with expanding your capacity. And one thing that I’ve been learning is that God has this way of knowing the exact version of me that each season requires, as he patiently molds me into someone who can carry it. Maybe we aren’t ever supposed to become who we were before the pain, maybe we become people who can carry both joy and sorrow at the same time.

... Read moreHealing often feels like a silent companion, gently weaving its way into our everyday experiences without fanfare or announcement. From my own journey, I’ve learned that the process rarely follows the path we envision when we first begin to mend. Instead, it unfolds gradually—sometimes almost imperceptibly—as we start to notice small, beautiful changes in how we engage with the world around us. One of the most powerful signs of healing is when creativity and joy quietly return. For instance, you might find yourself drawn back to hobbies you once loved but had abandoned, or you might catch yourself smiling and laughing more freely, without the shadows of guilt or sorrow trailing behind. These shifts can feel like blessings—quiet confirmations that your heart is rebuilding its capacity to hold more than just pain. A key element I've discovered is the role of faith in this healing journey. Trusting that God shapes each season of our lives allows us to embrace transformation with patience and hope. It’s comforting to realize that we don’t have to become exactly who we were before the pain; rather, we grow into versions of ourselves who can carry both joy and sorrow simultaneously. I encourage anyone navigating grief or hardship to find beauty in the ordinary—a fresh bouquet of flowers, the rediscovery of an old hobby, or a moment of genuine laughter. These small experiences can be profound milestones on the path to healing. Ultimately, healing means expanding our capacity not only to endure hardships but also to dream again, create again, serve others, and find deep joy in life’s simplest moments. If your heart feels heavy today, know that the quiet return of joy might be just around the corner, arriving without fanfare but with lasting grace.
