Building my own gravity chicken feeder has been one of the best decisions for my backyard flock! Before, I was constantly refilling bowls, dealing with wasted feed, and sometimes even pests. Maintenance is surprisingly simple. Every time I refill, I quickly check for any clogs or dampness. Occasionally, I'll give the inside a brush clean, especially if I notice any buildup. It’s a small effort for continuous, fresh feed. Compared to buying a ready-made automatic feeder, the cost savings of a DIY version using PVC pipes are significant. I spent less than $20 on materials, whereas commercial feeders can run much higher. This makes it an ideal solution for homesteaders or backyard chicken keepers looking to be more self-sufficient and economical.
