Viral DIY vase!

For the paint itself, I used leftover latex paint, but I’ve heard amazing things about chalk paint for this project because of its matte finish and excellent adhesion. One thing I can't stress enough is patience between coats! Rushing it can lead to a patchy finish or peeling. I gave each coat a good hour or two to dry completely, and then let the final product cure for at least 24 hours before handling it too much. If you're worried about durability, especially if you plan to put water in your vase (though most of these are best for dried or faux flowers), a clear matte sealer spray can add an extra layer of protection. Just make sure it’s suitable for painted surfaces. Don't be afraid to experiment with different vase shapes and sizes! While I loved my big Goodwill find, smaller glass bottles or even old jam jars can be transformed into adorable accent pieces. And think beyond neutral colors! Imagine a vibrant terracotta or a deep forest green textured vase – talk about a statement piece! I'm already planning my next one, maybe a darker hue with a subtle gold smudge instead of black for a touch of glam. Once your masterpiece is complete, the fun part is styling it! These rustic, organic-looking vases are perfect for showcasing dried botanicals like pampas grass, eucalyptus, or even simple twigs from your yard. They also look stunning on their own as sculptural elements on a bookshelf, a console table, or as a centerpiece on your dining table. I love pairing mine with a stack of old books or a small candle to create a cozy vignette.
