Red Heelers need consistent training and socialization from a young age to channel their instincts positively. I found that positive reinforcement works wonders with Amber. For anyone considering getting a Red Heeler, here are a few things I've learned from living with Amber. Be prepared for a dog that needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation. They thrive on having a 'job' to do, even if it's just playing fetch for an hour. Their coats are relatively low-maintenance but do shed, especially seasonally, so regular brushing helps. They are generally healthy dogs, but like all breeds, they can be prone to certain conditions, so regular vet check-ups are essential. Most importantly, give them lots of love and attention – they really bond deeply with their families. Amber truly is a fantastic companion, and I wouldn't trade her for the world.
