Only a couple days left til artfight!!
Wow, ArtFight is almost here, and I'm so hyped! I wanted to share a little more about my character roster for Team Fossils this year, especially since a few of you have been curious about some of my unique creations. First off, let's talk about Ross Apperix. He's one of my go-to characters, and I've spent a lot of time refining his look and backstory. As you can see from his reference sheet, he’s got a distinct style. I love designing his outfits, from his casual wear to that cool work apron with all his tools – it really speaks to his profession. He’s someone with a rich inner world, and I tried to convey that through his expressions and even the subtle details like his pansexual and polyamorous flags. When you're drawing him, I'd say focus on his expressive eyes and maybe try out one of his varied outfit options! Then there's Lola Bitrix, another character I'm really proud of. Her reference sheet highlights her unique personality. I had so much fun with her outfit options – the purple nightgown, the blue corset top with shorts, and that purple patterned dress all reflect different facets of her character. She's got a strong presence, and I think artists will enjoy bringing her to life. And for those who love something a bit more unconventional, let me introduce you to my more monstrous and unique OCs! I noticed some interest in 'ArtFight worm' type characters, and while I don't have a literal worm, I definitely have characters that fall under the 'monster' or 'mutant' categories that offer similar creative challenges. Take Vole, for instance. With his skull mask and those dark tendrils, he’s definitely not your typical character. Or Eyebrawl, who's a four-armed character with a red mohawk and those striking eye motifs. Designing characters like these is incredibly rewarding, pushing creative boundaries and offering artists a chance to explore unusual forms and features. I even included a smaller, chibi-style version of Vole on his sheet for those who prefer cuter interpretations! For anyone attacking my characters, I've tried to make their reference sheets as clear as possible, showing full-body front and back views, headshots, and detailed hands where necessary, like with Patrick Marion. He's another human character with a great story, and I specifically included his bisexual and polyamorous flags because representation matters. Don't be afraid to get creative with poses and expressions – I love seeing how other artists interpret my OCs! Remember, ArtFight is all about having fun, trying new things, and spreading art. Whether you're drawing a human, a feral, an anthro, a monster, or even a mech character, the goal is to enjoy the process. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the incoming attacks for Team Fossils!
