this homebakery cafe is tucked in such a perfect spot in toa payoh imo, with a cute little neighbourhood area right below her block. after collecting my bakes and drinks, i walked around and found a water play area and sand pit where kids were playing. there were also seats and tables around, making it a nice spot for a mini picnic with good food and drinks 😊
her matcha drinks are super unique, with fanciful names and descriptions that sound even more enticing. i tried the mayfair morning and uji hour.
the mayfair morning had lovely floral notes from the earl grey, which paired really well with the grassy matcha. the uji hour had soybean powder and black sugar whisked into the matcha, giving it a deeper and more layered flavour profile. it was also topped with cream, adding a nice sweetness that complemented the drink really well.
for a cafe that does creative drinks so well, it’s even more impressive that her bakes are just as good! i really loved the black sesame swirl banana bread. the nuttiness of the black sesame paired beautifully with the sweetness of the banana bread, and it was extremely moist too. the slice was gone in no time.
the pear cardamom crumble loaf was another stunner 🍐 it reminded me of apple pie, but with sweet pears instead. she also makes chewy chunky cookies, like the banana bread peanut butter chip cookie 🍪
overall, everything i tried was really spectacular. it’s the perfect snack stop while enjoying the peace and tranquillity of this quaint toa payoh neighbourhood.

What stood out most was how the cafe integrates local, comforting flavors with creative twists, such as the Uji Hour matcha drink that uses toasted kinako and kuromitsu to deepen flavor complexity topped with soft cream—something you don’t often find in typical cafes. It’s not just the drinks that leave a lasting impression; the black sesame swirl banana bread was incredibly moist and rich, with nutty flavors harmonizing beautifully with the natural sweetness of bananas.
One of my favorite moments was sitting leisurely in the neighborhood area near the cafe, where children were playing beside a water play zone and sand pit, making it a family-friendly spot. The available seats around the area made it perfect for a mini picnic, elevating the experience beyond just grabbing a bite. The pear cardamom crumble loaf brought an unexpected but pleasant surprise by mimicking the nostalgic taste of apple pie but with soft, sweet pears and aromatic cardamom—a lovely change of pace for those who enjoy fruit-based desserts.
The atmosphere felt unpretentious yet inviting, ideal for anyone seeking a peaceful escape from the bustle of the city. The attention to detail in both the beverage preparation and baking shows a passion for quality that truly resonates with customers. Whether you’re a matcha enthusiast looking for innovative flavors or someone who appreciates thoughtfully crafted homebaked goods, this cafe offers a unique experience. It’s become a go-to spot for me when I crave comfort food with a creative edge, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone exploring Toa Payoh or looking for a charming local cafe retreat.
