PART 2: BEDOK HAS A HIDDEN GEM HBB SELLING HOMEMADE BREAD AND SANDOS 🍞🥪

this is a continuation of pictures from my previous post :)

📍 sando sundays

the moment this hbb appeared on my ig feed, i knew i had to try their sandwiches 🍞🥪 i’m a sucker for good bread, and theirs looked absolutely divine! plus, all their bread (from the shokupan to the polo buns) is homemade, which is always a huge bonus ;)

i got to try almost everything on the menu: the polo brekkie bun, kaya butter bun, tamago sando, pulled beef sando, their newest chicken katsu sando, and an iced hojicha jelly latte.

the real star of the show has to be the bread. the shokupan used for the sandos was pillowy soft with a light, crisp crust that gave each bite a really satisfying texture. my favourite was definitely the chicken katsu sando! it features crispy breaded chicken breast, shredded lettuce, a tangy dressing and furikake, giving it a delicious japanese-inspired twist 🇯🇵

the polo buns were equally impressive. they had a beautifully flaky, buttery cookie crust with soft, fluffy bread underneath, so i totally understand why they’re one of the bestsellers. the polo brekkie bun made for such a satisfying brunch, packed with luncheon meat, cheese and a fluffy omelette. my mum was a huge fan of the kaya butter bun too 😊

the iced hojicha jelly latte was surprisingly refreshing. i liked that the hojicha itself wasn’t sweet, while the lightly sweetened jelly balanced everything perfectly. it honestly felt like a healthier version of bubble tea haha.

overall, this sando spot is such a hidden gem. the sandwiches are more affordable than what you’d usually find at cafes, yet the quality doesn’t feel compromised at all 💯 my only regret is that they’re all the way in taman bedok… i wish they were closer to me 🥲

... Read moreIf you love artisanal sandwiches that combine tradition with unique flavors, Sando Sundays in Bedok is definitely worth a visit. What really stands out here is the commitment to homemade bread – from the soft, fluffy shokupan to the irresistible polo buns with their signature cookie crust. The variety offered caters to different tastes, whether it’s the kaya butter bun that offers a nostalgic sweetness or the chicken katsu sando with its satisfying crispy texture balanced by a tangy dressing and a sprinkle of furikake. I find that homemade bread like this makes all the difference. Unlike commercially produced bread, the textures are more complex and the flavors richer, which enhances even simple fillings. Besides the taste, the value for money at this home-based bakery is exceptional. You get high-quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation without the cafe markup. Another highlight is the iced hojicha jelly latte. I’ve tried many hojicha drinks before, but the addition of lightly sweetened jelly is a refreshing twist that keeps it light and fun—perfect for Singapore’s hot climate. It’s also a nice alternative if you’re looking for something less sweet than bubble tea. The location in Taman Bedok might be a bit out of the way for some, but trust me, the fresh homemade bread and the carefully curated sandwich menu make the trip worthwhile. Whether for a quick brunch or an indulgent snack, Sando Sundays offers something special that fills a unique niche in the local food scene. I’d recommend trying a combination of items, like the polo brekkie bun alongside the chicken katsu sando, to experience the varied textures and flavors fully. Overall, this hidden gem exemplifies how home-based businesses can offer gourmet-quality food with a personal touch. If you’re in the area or planning a visit, don’t miss out on these delightful homemade breads and creative sandwiches that truly set Sando Sundays apart.
