UNIQUE FLORAL MATCHA LATTE HIDDEN IN A TPY HOMEBASED CAFE 🍵🍪
📍 matcha paws
this cosy matcha cafe was named after the owner’s pug, and serves up speciality matcha drinks alongside homemade bakes. from banana bread and basque cheesecakes to cookies, there’s plenty to enjoy with your cup of matcha 🍵
i tried their brown butter banana bread, earl grey basque cheesecake and uji matcha white chocolate macadamia cookie.
the banana bread had a lovely caramelised aroma from the browned butter, with just the right amount of sweetness. it was super moist on the inside, while the crust had a satisfying crispness.
the earl grey basque cheesecake had a beautifully torched exterior and a creamy centre, giving it a nice contrast of textures. i also loved how distinct the earl grey flavour was 🫖 it really shone through without being overpowering.
the matcha cookie was another standout! it wasn’t overly sweet, and the chunks of white chocolate and crunchy macadamias made every bite more enjoyable. the earthy matcha flavour came through really well too, which i loved 💚
for my drink, i had the osmanthus honey blossom matcha latte, and wow… this was easily one of my favourite matcha lattes 🍵 the floral notes from the osmanthus paired so well with the matcha, while the honey added just a gentle touch of sweetness without masking the tea.
overall, both the bakes and drinks were exceptional. you can really tell how much care and thought goes into every item, and i can’t wait for more people to discover this hidden gem 🥹
If you’re a fan of matcha or unique cafe experiences, Matcha Paws is definitely worth a visit. Beyond their signature Osmanthus Honey Blossom Matcha Latte, which perfectly balances floral notes and subtle honey sweetness, the cafe’s bakes are equally impressive. From my experience, the brown butter banana bread stands out for its moist texture and caramelized aroma thanks to the browned butter, while the Earl Grey Basque cheesecake offers a creamy center contrasted by a beautifully torched exterior with a delicate but distinct Earl Grey flavor. What I loved most was how the matcha elements truly shine through in each treat. The Uji Matcha White Chocolate Macadamia Cookie, for instance, isn’t overly sweet and features delightful crunchy macadamia nuts with white chocolate chunks, making it a deliciously rich but balanced option. This cafe isn’t just about flavor; it exudes a cozy, homely vibe that makes every visit relaxing. The owner’s passion for matcha and baking is evident in every detail, from thoughtful ingredient combinations to the care in presentation. For anyone exploring Singapore’s homebased food scene or looking to indulge in authentic matcha beverages paired with creative homemade bakes, Matcha Paws offers a unique and satisfying experience. Don’t miss out on their floral-inspired lattes and the perfect bakery treats to accompany them.
