God Meets You Where You Are

Matthew 2:1–12 hit me in a fresh way today. The wise men who traveled to see Jesus weren’t scripture experts, they were astrologers, men who studied the stars. Yet God used what they knew, a star, to lead them straight to Jesus.

That speaks volumes: God meets us in the places we understand. He uses the everyday things to get our attention and guide us closer to Him.

💡 Here’s what that means for us:

1. You don’t have to be perfect for God to reach you.

2. He knows the language of your life and will meet you in it.

3. Even your struggles can become the very place He draws near.

This truth is the heartbeat behind my journal + brand: to remind us that we don’t need to perform for God. We just need to be open. He meets us where we are, and gently leads us closer.

... Read moreIt's so easy to get caught up in the idea that we need to be 'perfect' for God to truly connect with us, isn't it? I know I've certainly felt that pressure, like I needed to clean up my act, read more scripture, or pray for hours before I could even approach Him. But reflecting on the powerful truth that God meets you where you are, it truly reshapes everything. Think about it: the wise men, as the article mentions, weren't theologians or religious scholars. They were astrologers, studying stars, a practice many might consider outside the traditional religious realm. Yet, God used their language, their area of understanding – a star – to lead them directly to Jesus. This story always reminds me that He doesn't require us to fit into a mold. He doesn't expect us to be flawless. This is why I find so much comfort in the reminder: *You don't have to be perfect*. My spiritual walk has been far from perfect, filled with doubts, stumbles, and moments of feeling utterly inadequate. But in those very moments, I've seen how *He speaks the language of your life*. Sometimes it's a quiet whisper during a morning walk, other times it's through a friend's timely advice, or even just a moment of peace watching the pampas grass sway in the breeze, reminding me of nature's simple beauty and God's presence. What a relief to know that *God will always meet you where you are*, no matter how messy or imperfect that 'where' might be. It means we don't have to perform or put on a facade. We just need to be open to His presence. I've found that *even your struggles can lead you closer*. Those tough seasons, when I felt lost or overwhelmed, became the very places where I leaned into faith hardest, and in doing so, encountered a deeper, more compassionate understanding of God's love and grace. It's in those raw, vulnerable spaces that His guidance feels most profound. So, if you're feeling like you're not 'enough,' remember this: Jesus meets you where you are, ready to walk with you, just as you are.
