Zae’s Oven-Baked Creamy Cheese Grits

• ½ cup milk
• ½ teaspoon, or so, chicken bouillon
• Salt & black pepper, to taste
• 1–2 tablespoons butter
Optional Add-Ins
• Dollop of sour cream
• Cheese of choice (I used sliced cheese because that’s what I had.
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. In an oven-safe dish, combine:
• Grits
• Water
• Milk
• Chicken bouillon
• Salt & pepper
• Butter
3. Stir everything together.
4. Cover tightly with foil.
5. Bake for 35–37 minutes.
6. Remove from oven, remove foil.
7. Stir until smooth and combined.
8. Be like Daisy 🐄 and add a dollop of sour cream and cheese of your choice
9. Stir again until creamy.
Grits will thicken as they stand, so don’t panic if they look a little loose at first. Serve warm and enjoy.

If you're looking to add a little extra flair to your oven-baked grits, consider experimenting with different cheeses and seasonings. I often swap in sharp cheddar or pepper jack to give more boldness, and mixing in fresh herbs like chives or thyme can elevate the flavor profile significantly. The beauty of oven-baking grits is its hands-off convenience, allowing you to prepare other dishes simultaneously without constant stirring. One tip I've found helpful is to watch the liquid ratio carefully—using a combination of milk and water creates a creamy texture without being too heavy. Adding chicken bouillon boosts the savory depth without overpowering the dish. If you prefer a vegetarian version, vegetable broth can be a tasty substitute. Don’t be surprised if your grits seem a bit loose when first taken out of the oven; they thicken as they cool. Stirring in a dollop of sour cream or cream cheese at the end adds smooth richness and a slight tang that complements the buttery notes beautifully. Oven-baked grits are not only an easy side but also a comforting base for toppings like sautéed shrimp, crispy bacon bits, or roasted vegetables. Finally, make sure your oven-safe dish is tightly covered with foil during baking to trap steam, which ensures the grits cook evenly and become luscious. This method is a fantastic alternative to stovetop cooking, saving time and effort while delivering perfectly creamy, cheesy grits every time.

I'm not washing no grits.. Out of line.🤨
