Die on this hill….
Who am I trying to impress? 🤔
Her.
And her too.
But most especially her.
The little girl born in the projects of Biloxi, Mississippi. That’s who. ❤️
I’ve spent too much time worrying about who would.
Then I remembered…
The only person I owe proof to is the little girl who believed she could do anything. The one in these photos.
So I’m going to keep showing up.
Keep growing.
Keep winning.
Keep shining. ✨
For her.
And a special thank you to the people who show up, support me, encourage me, and come through when I need them. You know who you are, and I appreciate you more than you know. ❤️
She believed she could, so she did.
And she’s not finished yet. ❤️
Reflecting on the message "Who are you trying to impress?" really struck a chord with me. Often, we get caught up in seeking approval from others—family, friends, colleagues, or society at large. But after some self-reflection, I realized that the only approval that truly matters is the one we give ourselves, especially when thinking about the hopes and dreams we had as children. Like this author, I remember my younger self who was full of ambition and belief in endless possibilities. Growing up in a modest environment, I constantly faced doubts about my capabilities, but reminding myself that the little girl I once was believed in me helped to fuel my resilience. It’s a powerful feeling when you start living your life for that inner child who dared to dream. The journey isn’t always easy—there are days when self-doubt creeps in or external pressures weigh heavily. But each time, I find strength by acknowledging those roots and the support from people who stand by me. Expressing gratitude to those who show up in meaningful ways adds to my motivation. What stands out most here is the commitment to "keep showing up, keep growing, keep winning, keep shining." It’s about progress and persistence, not perfection. This mindset shift can help all of us light our own paths and inspire others along the way. Remembering where we come from and who we're striving for—be it that little girl or boy inside us—makes all the difference in turning dreams into reality.
