How to Actually Prepare for Your PWS 👀

First, do you need a Pre-Wedding Shoot? 🤔

Wedding days are super packed, so while you may have some time for couple photos, it won't be a lot, and it will be in your wedding suit & gown.

Pre-Wedding shoots can be a more fun, creative environment to capture your love story, and for you to look back on when you're older 🥹

Additionally, it can act as extra content for your Actual Day Wedding Videos! For example, you could do a mini interview about your love story — You typically wouldn't have time for this on the actual day of the wedding!

At the end of the day, it's really just an excuse for you & your partner to go out and have fun together! 😋

If you've decided you want a PWS, here's your guide to start planning!

1️⃣ Decide the Vibe

Some couples want to capture a goofier, funnier side or feature places with special meaning (e.g. Where you met, your first date)!

Do some research on Pinterest or Lemon8 and discuss with your partner what you would like! You can also bring special props (e.g. Earpiece, a stuffed toy)! They help to amplify and showcase your unique relationship. 🧸✨

2️⃣ Posing

If I'm gonna be so for real, nobody really knows how to pose... We all know the struggle having a boyfriend that always does the 😐 in every photo. You'll have to get a reliable photographer to help guide you on how to pose, so make sure you look through full galleries they've done with different couples before you decide who to book! 📸

3️⃣ Choose a Photographer You Like!

Make sure you don't just like the photos, but you also like the photographer! I can't emphasise this enough. You want someone you won't feel awkward with, and someone who you're willing to be your true goofy self with. Otherwise, you're going to have a tiring few hours... 😔

4️⃣ Timing & Duration

I'm not a fan of waking up early either, but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to capture your memories! I promise getting up early will be worthwhile for the photos. Anywhere after 10.30am gets super hot especially in your suit & dress. 😓

Do also decide how long you want the photoshoot to be! You may want to capture more photos, but it can get more tiring than expected having to smile and run around for the photos. 🫠

5️⃣ Heat Management

Singapore's weather is super super hot and people fainting during shoots is not unheard of! Please please make sure you are well-prepared with lots of water and a powerful minifan! Hydralytes e.g. 100Plus and Pocari Sweat are also really useful. 💧

... Read moreFrom personal experience, a pre-wedding shoot (PWS) is not just about getting beautiful pictures—it's about creating lasting memories with your partner before the big day. One thing I learned is that deciding on the vibe early really sets the tone. Whether you choose a playful picnic theme or an elegant park setting, the key is to pick locations that hold sentimental value or reflect your personalities. Posing can be intimidating if you're not used to being in front of a camera. I recommend browsing through photographers' full galleries and even doing a test shoot if possible. This helps you get comfortable with your photographer’s style and receive guidance on natural poses. A good photographer can make even the most awkward couple feel relaxed and have fun, which shines through in the images. Timing is crucial. In places like Singapore where the weather can be oppressively hot, an early morning shoot during golden hour offers flattering light and cooler temperatures. Don't underestimate how tired you can get; breaks during shoots help recharge and keep the mood light. Consider incorporating activities like a short café visit as part of your shoot for candid moments and rest. Heat management is something I personally struggled with, so pack plenty of water and electrolyte drinks like Pocari Sweat or 100Plus to stay hydrated. A reliable portable fan can be a lifesaver, especially when wearing formal attire. Finally, treat the PWS as a special outing. Use props that showcase your unique bond, such as meaningful trinkets or playful items like a stuffed toy. The goal is to have fun and let your true selves shine. When all is said and done, these photos will be cherished keepsakes that beautifully tell your love story long after the wedding day.
