Wallpapering My Emotions, One Tear at a Time

Grief is like that awkward dance we never signed up for—some days you’re twirling through it, other days you’re stumbling over your own feet. But here’s the thing: even when you’re tripping, you’re still moving forward. So keep dancing, even if it’s messy.

Want a reminder for your screen? Take a screenshot or DM me, and I’ll send you the wallpaper!

... Read moreTrying not to scream into a pillow? Yeah, I've been there more times than I can count on this wild grief journey. There are days when my emotions feel like a tangled knot, and all I want to do is just let out a primal yell. It’s like a constant battle of "Feeling all the feels and trying not to scream into a pillow." It’s exhausting, isn't it? I remember one afternoon, I was just going about my day, and suddenly, a song came on that instantly brought back a flood of memories. One moment I was fine, the next I felt this overwhelming surge of sadness and frustration. My chest tightened, and I literally had to clench my jaw to stop myself from yelling out loud. It felt like my internal system was just giving me "EMOTIONS: ERROR 404" – completely overwhelmed and unable to process. Instead of fighting it, I found myself instinctively walking into my bedroom, burying my face in a pillow, and just letting out a muffled scream. It wasn't pretty, but in that moment, it was exactly what I needed. It was a release, a way to acknowledge the intensity of what I was feeling without bottling it up. What I've learned is that it's okay to feel that intense urge to scream, to cry, to just let it all out. Suppressing those powerful emotions often just makes them fester. For me, finding safe ways to express that raw frustration has been crucial. Sometimes it's that muffled pillow scream, other times it's a long, intense run where I let my physical exertion match my emotional turmoil. Journaling has also become a sanctuary. When I can't articulate what I'm feeling out loud, writing it all down, no matter how messy or incoherent, helps to untangle those knots in my head and heart. It's not about fixing anything immediately, but about acknowledging and releasing. Another thing that really resonates with me is that feeling of "CHILL AGAIN, STILL SAD AGAIN." Grief isn't a linear path. You can have moments of peace, even joy, and then suddenly, the sadness washes over you again. It’s a constant ebb and flow. Allowing for that, and not judging myself for having "bad" days after "good" ones, has been a game-changer. It’s about accepting that healing isn't about forgetting or moving on completely, but about learning to carry your grief in a way that allows you to keep moving forward, even if it's just one tiny step at a time. Someone once told me, and it stuck with me: "Grief doesn't get easier, but you get tougher." And honestly, that's so true. We adapt, we learn new coping mechanisms, we build resilience we didn't know we had. It’s a messy, imperfect process, but every tear, every muffled scream, every moment of navigating these overwhelming feelings, is a testament to our strength and capacity for healing. So, if you're out there "trying not to scream" today, know you're not alone. Give yourself permission to feel it, find your own safe outlets, and trust that you are, indeed, getting tougher.
