crochet clouds ☁️
Hey everyone! I’m so excited to share my journey making this absolutely dreamy crochet cloud beret. This light blue beret with its fluffy white clouds and sparkling beads is just so whimsical and cozy! It’s been a joy to craft, and I truly believe anyone can make one. I’ve put together a free pattern guide so you can create your own unique, whimsical hat. What You'll Need: Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in light blue (beret) and white (clouds). Crochet Hook: Appropriate for your yarn (e.g., 4.0mm or 5.0mm). Tapestry Needle: For weaving in ends and sewing embellishments. Scissors. Beads: A mix of white beads and clear beads (small glass beads or pearls work beautifully!). Let’s Crochet the Beret Base (Light Blue): This uses basic double crochet (DC) stitches. Magic Ring: Start with a magic ring. Round 1: Chain 2 (counts as first DC), 11 DC into the ring. Join with a slip stitch (sl st). (12 stitches) Round 2: Chain 2, 2 DC in each st around. Sl st to join. (24 stitches) Round 3: Chain 2, 1 DC in next st, 2 DC in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st to join. (36 stitches) Increase Rounds: Continue increasing your rounds evenly (adding 12 stitches per round) until your flat circle measures approx. 10-11 inches in diameter (usually 7-8 rounds total). This forms the top of your beret. Body Rounds: Chain 2, then DC in each stitch around for about 6-8 rounds. This creates the sides. Try it on occasionally! Brim: Switch to a smaller hook (e.g., 3.5mm). Work 2-3 rounds of alternating Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC) and Back Post Double Crochet (BPDC) for a ribbed brim. Alternatively, you can do a round of single crochet (SC) decreases evenly. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends. Crafting the Fluffy White Clouds: Make a few in various sizes! For a basic small cloud: Chain 6. In the 2nd chain from hook, make 2 SC. In the next chain, make 3 Half Double Crochet (HDC). In the next chain, make 3 Double Crochet (DC). In the next chain, make 3 HDC. In the last chain, make 2 SC. Slip stitch to the base of the first SC to close. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Experiment with chain lengths and stitch types to create unique shapes. I made about 5-7 clouds for my beret. Adding the Sparkle (Beads): Once your light blue beret and white cloud shapes are ready, it’s time for the beads! I used a mix of white beads and clear beads for extra magic. Placement: Lay your beret flat and arrange your crocheted clouds. I loved scattering them around the base and sides. Sewing Clouds: Using your tapestry needle and white yarn, securely sew each cloud onto the beret. Bead Embellishment: Use a regular sewing needle and strong, thin thread to sew on your white beads and clear beads. Dot them randomly, or cluster them around the clouds like little raindrops or stardust. Placing some right on the clouds and some in the 'sky' looked really charming. And there you have it! Your very own unique, whimsical crochet cloud beret. It's such a rewarding project, and the final result is truly special. I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did. Don't forget to share your creations – I'd love to see them! Happy crocheting!

So cute! Where did you get the clouds?
