Oh my goodness, I just had the most wonderful time exploring the Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio, Texas! It's truly a hidden gem, and I'm so excited to share my experience and tips from my recent visit. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with breathtaking scenery, this is definitely the place to be. The highlight for me was definitely the beautiful ponds. Walking along the stone pathways, I noticed the vibrant green pond first, teeming with colorful koi fish! They were so active, swimming gracefully near the edges, and it was mesmerizing to watch. I even spotted some tiny fish near the aquatic plants in the clearer sections of the water. The elevated view provided a fantastic perspective of the entire main pond area, really showing off the lush foliage and the way the small islands of plants are strategically placed. Don't forget to bring some quarters if you want to buy fish food from the dispensers – it's such a fun experience, especially with kids! Now, for some practical info! One of the best things about the Japanese Tea Garden is that admission is completely free! Yes, you heard that right – no tickets needed, which is fantastic for budget-friendly outings. It's open daily, generally from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but always good to check their official website for the most current hours, especially around holidays. Parking can be a bit tricky on busy days, so I recommend arriving earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon to snag a good spot near the entrance. Beyond the koi pond, the garden itself is a tranquil escape. The diverse greenery is simply breathtaking, with various plants and trees creating a serene atmosphere. I particularly loved the view of the rocky cliff face and the stunning waterfalls cascading into the ponds. There are so many picturesque spots; I felt like I could spend hours just soaking it all in. This is a free place and WELL WORTH the visit! There’s so much to see and this has by FAR been my favorite Japanese tea garden I’ve been to(and I’ve been to quite a few). Parking is tricky in the weekends it says on google maps and I don’t remember because it was back in 2019. It was NOT crowded
