Peter Wasn’t Perfect. He Was Available.

In reflecting on Peter’s example, it becomes clear that the key to spiritual impact lies not in perfection but in availability and willingness to be used by God. Peter, though far from flawless, allowed God to work through him to heal the sick and liberate those tormented by evil spirits. This teaches us an important lesson: perfection is not a prerequisite for being an instrument of healing and empowerment. From my personal experience, embracing this mindset of availability transformed how I approach challenges and service. When I chose to be available, putting aside doubts and imperfections, I noticed how opportunities to help and encourage others naturally arose. It’s as if the act of saying “use me, God” opens doors for miracles, both big and small. The image of Peter's shadows healing those around him, as recorded in Acts 5, symbolizes how God's power can flow through us beyond what we feel capable of. It reminds me that our daily interactions, even those that seem insignificant, hold the potential to impact lives if approached with faith and openness. Therefore, the question “Are you willing to be used by God?” challenges us to surrender our fears and limitations. It encourages us to trust that God can use our availability to bring healing, empowerment, and transformation to others. By focusing not on our flaws but on God’s ability to work through us, we can experience a deeper sense of purpose and witness the incredible things that unfold when we say yes to being used.
