Book Review: If Cats Disappeared From The World

Okay, so I know I said the next book would be Dracula BUT I wanted to do a review of a book I am reading for a book club I joined. As you can see from the title, we are currently reading “If Cats Disappeared from the World”. As you can also see from the cover, I plan to use this as a new cover for all my book reviews, because as you can see I do my own personal book reviews of the books I have read throughout the years. I started this back in 2023 and have continued it since. So far I have read 18 books in the past three years. I plan to read more and share my reviews of each book that I finish. With that, here is my review of “If Cats Disappeared from the World”.

Book: If Cats Disappeared from the World

Author: Genki Kawamura

Review: What can I say about this book? it made me cry. I enjoyed it so much. It made me think about my relationship with my own cats and my own family and how it will affect me one day. This book was interesting and gave me a perspective on how life is ment to be lived. This book was incredible I hope it gets a movie so that I can cry even more. (I would add more of what I really said about this book, but I don’t want to give spoilers!)

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Next Book: Dracula (for sure this time)

4/27 Edited to

... Read moreAfter reading "If Cats Disappeared From The World," I found myself reflecting on so much more than just the plot. This novel by Genki Kawamura isn't just a story; it's an experience that makes you ponder life's biggest questions, especially those about connection and loss. When I first picked it up, drawn in by the striking cover featuring that poignant black kitten, I knew it would be special, but I didn't anticipate its profound impact. Many of you, like me, might be curious about the deep insights and memorable quotes this book holds. While I don't want to give away spoilers, I can tell you that the dialogues, like those I glimpsed in the chapter titled "THURSDAY A WORLD WITHOUT CLOCKS," are incredibly thought-provoking. They delve into what we truly value and what we'd be willing to sacrifice for more time. The narrative beautifully explores the protagonist's journey as he confronts his own mortality, leading to a much deeper appreciation for the seemingly ordinary things in life – like the comforting presence of a cat or a simple conversation with a loved one. It’s hard not to connect these themes to your own life and relationships, especially with pets who bring so much joy. Beyond the story, the book's physical presentation also adds to its appeal. The cover, with its minimalist yet powerful image of a black kitten, perfectly encapsulates the central theme of love, loss, and the irreplaceable bond we share with our animal companions. It’s a visual representation of the heart of the novel, drawing readers in before they even read the first page. The synopsis on the back hints at the emotional rollercoaster, setting expectations for a truly moving read. This isn't just a book about cats; it's a philosophical exploration of existence itself, wrapped in a deceptively simple premise. It makes you think about how much richer our lives are because of the connections we forge, and how devastating it would be to lose them. If you're looking for a novel that will challenge your perspectives and touch your heart, this is definitely one to pick up. It's truly a gem that stays with you long after you've turned the final page.
