Nature’s chemistry in a cup
It’s the Cream Down effect in the video
(Some call it tea cheese — don’t worry, it’s not spoiled!)
Why does it happen?
When tea is hot, natural compounds like polyphenols and caffeine dissolve easily. As the tea cools, they start to bond together, forming tiny clumps that make your tea look cloudy.
Think of it like sugar in hot coffee — it dissolves at first, but as the drink cools, some settles out. The same thing happens with tea compounds — they just “team up” when the temperature drops.
A simple analogy:
Hot honey flows smooth and clear. Once it cools, it thickens and clouds up. Cream Down in tea is nature’s version of that!
Fun fact:
You’ll notice Cream Down more in black teas than green teas. That’s because black tea is fermented, which changes the structure of its compounds — making them more likely to clump as they cool. Green tea stays closer to its natural state, so it usually remains clear, even when chilled. #funfact #teaknowledge #naturaltea
