Incubating eggs again!!
Having incubated chicken eggs multiple times, I’ve learned a few key things that helped me improve my success rate. One important aspect is maintaining the right temperature and humidity levels throughout the incubation period. Using a reliable incubator with a precise thermometer and hygrometer ensures the eggs remain in optimal conditions. Another tip is to turn the eggs regularly, ideally 3 to 5 times a day, to prevent the embryo from sticking to the shell. Some incubators come with an automatic turner, which can make this easier. Monitoring eggs for signs of development through candling after about a week is also rewarding and helps identify non-viable eggs early, preventing complications. After about 21 days, when hatching begins, it’s crucial to avoid opening the incubator frequently as this causes temperature drops and can harm the chicks. Patience is vital during this process since each batch might behave a little differently. Sharing these experiences on platforms like CapCut and homesteading forums helped me connect with others and improve my techniques. Ultimately, incubating eggs is a fulfilling experience that connects you closely to nature and your flock, and trying again with these tips has made my homestead journey even more enjoyable.
