I had such an amazing Valentine’s Day weekend! My gf surprised me with dinner reservations at Maison Pickle in NYC and we went to a friend who was hosting their 10th annual Galentine’s Day party! Overall, it was such a fun weekend and I’m so happy I was able to document it ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶
Night 1:
-we stayed at The Radio Hotel (slides 1 and 2). It was nice but the fridge was soooo tiny it was honestly a joke you could barely fit a water bottle. room service and guest services were very kind and welcoming. I couldn’t stop singing In the Heights being there 😭
-Maison Pickle (slides 5 and 6) is an upscale American restaurant in downtown Manhattan and it was very sweet of my gf to surprise me with reservations because we went here three years ago for our anniversary, time flies! the food was great, salad could have been fresher (7/10) but everything else was absolutely divine. if you don’t get cocktails it’s relatively cheap for a “fancy” restaurant.
Night 2
Galentine’s! (slides 7-9) our friend from college hosts one every year and this year was soooo much fun. to be surrounded by girls and good energy really was something special. we took soooo many pictures and ate so much food. watched the Barbie movie and played games until 1am.
Whether you’re with a lover, friend(s), family, pets, colleagues or enjoying the solitude, happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I hope 2024 has been good so far.
... Read moreMy Galentine's Day weekend in NYC was truly memorable, and it got me thinking about all the incredible ways you and your girls can celebrate friendship in the Big Apple! If you're looking to plan your own unforgettable Galentine's escape, let me share a few more tips and ideas inspired by my own experience.
Exploring NYC Beyond the Dinner Reservation:
While a fantastic dinner, like the one I enjoyed at Maison Pickle with their amazing Patty Melt and crispy mac and cheese, is a must, NYC offers so much more for a Galentine's celebration. How about starting your day with a fabulous brunch? Places like Sadelle's in Soho or Jack's Wife Freda offer delicious food and vibrant atmospheres perfect for catching up. Or, for something more relaxed, consider a pampering spa day! Many spas across the city offer group packages, letting you unwind and bond. If you're feeling creative, try a painting class with wine, or even a cooking workshop where you can learn to whip up something delicious, maybe even a gourmet chicken caesar salad or some homemade garlic pull-apart bread, to enjoy together later. And don't forget to explore some of NYC's diverse neighborhoods – my hotel, The Radio Hotel, was in Washington Heights, and that area has such a unique vibe worth discovering!
Picking Your Perfect NYC Home Base:
Choosing where to stay can really shape your weekend. The Radio Hotel, where I stayed, offered a great experience, especially being close to the George Washington Bridge with cool views. But NYC has hotels for every style and budget. Think about what kind of experience you want: a boutique hotel in Greenwich Village for artsy vibes, a luxurious stay in Midtown for classic NYC glamour, or maybe an Airbnb in Brooklyn for a more local feel. Always check for amenities that matter to you, like a spacious fridge (unlike mine, haha!) or a cozy common area for late-night chats.
Making Your Galentine's Feast Extra Special:
Beyond the main meal, think about all the delicious treats NYC has to offer. From grabbing artisanal pastries at a local bakery to indulging in dessert at a chic café, food is a huge part of the city's charm. You could even plan a themed potluck at your accommodation if you have kitchen access – everyone brings an appetizer, and you recreate some of those incredible dishes you've seen online. Imagine a 'Galentine's Day Girls Only' themed spread with all your favorite comfort foods!
Personal Touches and Planning Ahead:
The best part about Galentine's is celebrating your unique friendships. Plan some personalized activities, like a photo walk through Central Park or visiting a landmark that holds special meaning for your group. Don't forget to book popular restaurants or activities in advance, especially during busy times like Valentine's/Galentine's week. A little planning goes a long way in ensuring your 'Love is all Around' NYC Galentine's Day is as smooth and joyful as possible.
Ultimately, whether it's a fancy dinner, a casual brunch, or simply spending quality time together, the goal is to make memories with your favorite people. I hope these extra ideas help you plan a Galentine's Day in NYC that's 'so much fun' and 10/10 amazing, just like mine!
