BREAKING UP AFTER SEVEN YEARS

About a month before my apartment caught on fire and I was forced to move out, my girlfriend and I broke up after seven years together.

I almost didn’t post this because it’s embarrassing to even talk about this, but I would’ve wanted to hear this when I was going through my breakup so I hope it’ll help someone else as well.

The biggest thing I learned from my seven year relationship was that honesty truly is the best policy, don’t EVER ignore your gut, it is screaming at you for a reason, and always make sure you exist outside of your relationship.

Otherwise you disappear right along with them.

If you’re going through a breakup right now, no matter how much it hurts I PROMISE you will come out on the other side a stronger, more resilient version of yourself. Take care of yourself.

Until next time:)

... Read moreBreaking up after a long-term relationship, especially one that spans several years, can feel like losing a fundamental part of yourself. From my own experience, one crucial insight is the importance of being a whole person outside the relationship. When you invest all your identity into your partner, any split can feel like an erasure of who you are. It’s vital to nurture friendships, hobbies, and goals independently to maintain your sense of self. Trusting your gut is something I underestimated before my breakup. That nagging feeling often signals deeper truths we resist accepting. Ignoring it only prolongs emotional turmoil. Learning to listen to your instincts can not only help with relationships but also with decisions that shape your life moving forward. Honesty stands out as the ultimate foundation. In my seven-year relationship, I realized that once trust and honesty diminish, rebuilding them is incredibly challenging. Being truthful with yourself and your partner allows for healthier communication and a stronger emotional connection. After the breakup, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed and lost. Taking the time to 'calm down' and allow yourself grace during this new phase is necessary. Life doesn’t end with a breakup—as hard as it feels initially, it truly does go on. Each day brings opportunities for growth and discovering new strengths. Finally, sharing my story here is part of the healing process. I hope anyone reading who currently faces heartbreak understands that while the pain is real, it also brings resilience and transformation. You won’t just survive — you can thrive by embracing honesty, trusting your instincts, and most importantly, loving the person you are outside any relationship.

I'm so proud of you for staying strong, you're completely right! I had a really messy breakup around 4 years ago, I ended up in the mental hospital. He moved to a different country without telling me. I still think about it from time to time, but I'm glad we aren't still together, as he wasn't the right one. Yet again, I'm proud of you! 💕

Happy for you stay strong in in 7 years and honestly I work so much and do so much that if he walked away I’d be okay. Go be someone else’s problem. The love ain’t the same I’m a passionate person and there’s hardly any passion left
