my favorite go-to-spot in San Diego ✨

Focusing on doing more of what I love this year 🫶 I’m so grateful that I can take my hobbies with me on my travels as a flight attendant, and enjoy the views as I go.

San Diego is one of my favorite domestic layovers! Enjoying an iced coffee and crocheting on the Portside Pier has become tradition. If you ever see me out there, feel free to say hi 👋

Shout out to Portside Coffee & Gelato for having yummy iced coffees AND breakfast burritos 🌯 I get one every time I’m there 😋 Portside Pier

... Read moreI'm so glad I got to share my little slice of San Diego heaven with you! Since so many of you are curious about San Diego's piers and especially Portside Pier, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into why this spot truly captures my heart and why I think you’ll love it too. First off, when people ask, 'Does San Diego have a pier?' – yes, it absolutely does, and Portside Pier is one of its most charming! It's not just a walk-out-over-the-water structure; it’s a vibrant, yet peaceful, extension of the city's waterfront. What I adore about Portside Pier is its unique vantage point. From here, you get breathtaking panoramic views of the San Diego Bay, the iconic Coronado Bridge, and the bustling downtown skyline. It’s perfect for a leisurely stroll, people-watching, or simply finding a quiet bench to soak it all in. I've spent countless hours just watching the boats go by, feeling the sea breeze – it’s pure bliss. And let's talk about Portside Coffee & Gelato, which is truly the cherry on top of this beautiful pier experience. Beyond my beloved iced coffees and those incredible breakfast burritos (seriously, don't miss them!), their menu is surprisingly diverse. I've tried their delicious pastries, and their gelato selection is fantastic for a sweet treat, especially on a sunny San Diego afternoon. The staff are always so welcoming, making it feel like a true local gem. Grabbing a warm pastry and hot coffee on a slightly chilly morning, or a scoop of refreshing gelato when the sun is beaming, and then finding a spot right on the pier – it’s the ultimate way to start any day or unwind after a busy flight. It’s definitely more than just a quick stop; it’s a destination within itself. What makes Portside Pier stand out as my personal 'San Diego go-to spot' is its unique blend of accessibility and tranquility. While other piers might be busier or more focused on fishing, Portside offers a more refined, leisurely experience. It’s a place where you can genuinely slow down. For anyone looking for 'things to do in San Diego' that involve relaxation, great food, and stunning views without the overwhelming crowds, this is it. It’s especially wonderful if you're traveling solo and just want some peaceful me-time. A little tip from my travels: try to visit in the morning for breakfast and coffee, or around sunset for truly spectacular views as the city lights up. Parking can be a bit tricky in San Diego, but there are usually paid lots nearby, or you can opt for ride-sharing. Don't forget to bring a book, your headphones, or, like me, your latest crochet project! It’s the perfect backdrop for creativity or simply quiet contemplation. So, if you're ever in San Diego and looking for a picturesque spot to enjoy a fantastic coffee, a bite to eat, and some serene bay views, make your way to Portside Pier. Trust me, it’s a slice of paradise I always look forward to!
