After sharing my Modded Minecraft-inspired Honeycomb Pendant, especially my unique Ender Bee Honeycomb design, I've had a few people ask about how to keep handmade gemstone jewelry looking its best. It's such a valid question because, just like in a game where you want to maintain your precious items, real-life treasures need love too! I've learned a lot through making and wearing my own pieces, and I want to share some tips on caring for your beautiful amethyst gemstone jewelry, or any handmade pendant for that matter. First off, general rule of thumb: always put your jewelry on after you've applied lotions, perfumes, or hairspray. These chemicals can dull your gemstone's sparkle over time and even affect the metal components of your pendant. When it comes to cleaning, less is often more. For an amethyst gemstone, which is relatively durable but still needs care, I usually use a bowl of warm water with a tiny drop of mild, plain dish soap. Never use harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can scratch the stone or damage any delicate settings. I gently use a soft brush (like a very soft toothbrush) to get into any crevices, especially around the honeycomb design, ensuring I'm not too rough with the amethyst. After a gentle scrub, a good rinse under running warm water is crucial to remove all soap residue. Then, immediately dry your pendant with a soft, lint-free cloth. Leaving it to air dry can sometimes lead to water spots, which can detract from its shine. I always make sure my Ender Bee Honeycomb Pendant is completely dry before storing it. Speaking of storage, it's best to keep your handmade jewelry, especially pieces with gemstones like amethyst, in a separate pouch or a jewelry box compartment. This prevents it from rubbing against other pieces, which could cause scratches or tangles. Extreme temperatures and prolonged direct sunlight can also affect the color of some gemstones, so a cool, dark place is ideal. Taking these small steps makes a huge difference in preserving the beauty and longevity of your cherished pieces.
