Love these new finds!
What do you think? Did I win the lottery or what? 😂😅 I decided to 'liberate' a bunch of dolls from my local auction house....like I saved them from the dump or something heroic. In a Hallmark movie I might say they saved me. Hahaha, just kidding! They really caught my eye though and I decided to try something new, DOLLS! Homemade dolls. Porcelain dolls, Baby dolls. Plush dolls. Decorative dolls. Collectable dolls. ALL THE DOLLS! They are quite charming and cute I have to say. I definitely see the appeal of them amd can appreciate them more now as an adult. Like they all have their own personailties and if I was lonely I may keep dolls that are my friends that I stay at home and chill with. Stranger things have happened. Some of the dolls are borderline creepy but I can dig it! So what do you think about dolls? Do you pick them up? Do you stear clear of them? Do you have a preference on what kinds? Do they do well? Inquiring minds want to know! I may have inadvertently become a doll lady myself....😂 Where my peeps at?
I've recently started exploring the world of doll collecting after rescuing a variety of dolls from my local auction house, and it’s been quite an eye-opening experience. What initially felt like saving these dolls from the trash quickly transformed into an enchanting hobby that blends nostalgia with a newfound appreciation for craftsmanship. One thing that really stands out is the remarkable variety within the doll community. From delicate porcelain dolls with intricate details to soft, plush dolls that evoke childhood comfort, each type brings something unique to the table. I noticed that many dolls have their own distinctive personalities—some are charming and sweet, others have a slightly eerie vibe, but all hold stories that make them special. For those considering starting a doll collection, auctions can be goldmines for finding rare and vintage pieces often overlooked by traditional collectors. Keep an eye out for homemade dolls, as they often carry a distinct charm and creativity that mass-produced dolls lack. Porcelain dolls, with their delicate and fragile nature, appeal to collectors who appreciate fine artistry, while plush dolls offer a cozier, approachable vibe perfect for casual display or comfort. If you’re debating whether to start collecting, I’d say go for it! Dolls can serve as delightful companions, especially if you enjoy decorating with nostalgic or whimsical items. Over time, you can curate a collection that reflects your personal taste—whether that’s cute and cuddly baby dolls or elaborate, decorative figures. It’s also fun to research the history and origins of each piece, which deepens the appreciation and connects you to a larger community of doll enthusiasts. Personally, I’ve found the process rewarding not only because of the beautiful finds but also because it reconnects me to simpler times and sparks creativity in how I display and interact with my collection. If loneliness ever creeps in, having these little companions around feels surprisingly comforting. What’s your experience with dolls? Do you have a favorite type or memorable find? It’s a wonderful hobby to explore, filled with surprises and unique stories waiting to be uncovered.
