Book review✨🖤 Carnival Obsession
1. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
📖 Carnival Obsession by
🎡 Book 2 in the Carnival series
Lars… whew. 🥵
Tattoos, motorcycle, carnival mechanic, morally black and absolutely NOT the kind of man you bring home to your mama. Which obviously makes him irresistible.
On opening night, Lars is running the Tilt-A-Whirl when he spots Alice, one of the town locals, and it’s basically lust at first sight. Alice is instantly drawn to him too, and agrees to meet him the next night by the Ferris wheel.
But she doesn’t show up.
Lars decides to hunt her down and teach her a lesson she’ll never forget. 😮💨🔪🎭
Out of all the books in this series, this one is probably my favorite. It was actually the first book I ever picked up by Selena Winters, and it introduced me to a completely different type of romance.
You know… the kind where the masked man chases you through the woods and somehow it’s still hot. 🫣🔥
If you can handle pitch-black characters, obsessive behavior, and downright filthy dark romance, I absolutely recommend this author. Selena Winters writes unhinged MMCs and with each book they just keep getting darker.
Definitely check trigger warnings before reading — she lists them for every book on her page.
⚠️ Trigger Warnings: stalking, obsessive behavior, masked pursuit/chase scenes, violence, dub-con elements, manipulation, dark themes, explicit sexual content.

As a huge dark romance enthusiast, I have to gush about another favorite read, 'Carnival Obsession' by Selena Winters. This book truly cemented my love for morally grey male characters and intense, no-holds-barred storytelling within the genre. If you've been looking for a book that will absolutely consume you, this might be it. What makes Lars so utterly irresistible, despite being the kind of man your mama would warn you about? It's his raw, untamed nature. From the moment he spots Alice, his obsession is palpable, practically leaping off the pages. The cover art itself, featuring a tattooed man in a leather jacket, perfectly captures his dark allure. And that tagline – 'TRY AS YOU MIGHT, MY BINDS YOU'LL NEVER BREAK, PRINCESS...' – truly sets the stage for the possessive, unyielding journey you're about to embark on. He's a carnival mechanic, yes, but more importantly, he's a man driven by a singular, all-consuming desire that makes for a truly thrilling and often unsettling read, in the best possible way. Selena Winters has a knack for crafting MMCs that just get darker and darker with each book, and Lars is a prime example. He embodies the 'unhinged' reputation her characters are known for, pushing boundaries and challenging expectations. The dynamic between Lars and Alice is electric from their first encounter at the Tilt-A-Whirl, quickly escalating into a game of cat and mouse that keeps you glued to the pages. This isn't your typical sweet romance; it's gritty, intense, and delves deep into the darker side of love and obsession. The masked pursuit scenes, where the masked man chases you through the woods, are incredibly atmospheric and add a layer of thrilling suspense that I just couldn't get enough of. For anyone considering diving into the 'Carnival' series, 'Carnival Obsession' (Book 2) is a fantastic entry point if you're ready for the intensity. While it's part of a series, the core romance here feels self-contained enough to enjoy. However, a word to the wise: always, always check Selena Winters' trigger warnings. Her stories, including this one, are not for the faint of heart. Expect elements like stalking, obsessive behavior, dub-con, manipulation, and explicit sexual content. These themes are central to the narrative, and they are handled with an unflinching honesty that makes the story both powerful and potentially challenging for some readers. Overall, 'Carnival Obsession' is a must-read for those who crave dark, spicy romance with morally complex characters and a plot that refuses to let you go. It's the kind of book that stays with you long after you've turned the last page, leaving you hungry for more of Selena Winters' deliciously dark world.
