🎪📚 Book Review: Carnival Shadows by Selena Winter 📚🎪

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

What a wild and addictive way to end the Carnival series! Carnival Shadows follows Remy and Eden, and their story had me hooked from the very first chapter.

Eden is a true crime podcaster searching for the story that will take her career to the next level. While exploring the dark web, she stumbles across a thread called "Carnival of Death" a collection of chilling conspiracies, disappearances, and unsolved deaths connected to the carnival. It sounds like the perfect story... until she meets Remy.

Remy is the kind of man who instantly steals your attention. He's strong, handsome, mysterious, and definitely gives off dangerous vibes. What starts as curiosity quickly turns into an obsession for Eden. She watches him the way a predator watches its prey but as secrets unravel and tensions rise, the lines between hunter and hunted begin to blur.

The chemistry between Remy and Eden made it impossible to put down. While it wasn't quite a 5-star read for me, it was still a fantastic conclusion to a series I've loved from the beginning.

Now that this series is over, I'm excited to see what Selena Winter does next! I know some of her series overlap and crossover (like the Blackwell Brothers and Carnival series), so I'm curious whether her new carnival series will connect to this one as well. Will it be completely unique, or will we see familiar faces and storylines return?

💭 Did you love the Carnival series as much as I did? Will you be picking up the next series?

⚠️ Trigger Warnings: Murder, death, disappearances, violence, stalking/obsessive behavior, dark themes, criminal activity, references to the dark web.

... Read moreHaving finished Carnival Shadows, I can say that Selena Winter masterfully blends dark romance with suspenseful thriller elements, creating a reading experience that's both captivating and unsettling. Eden's deep dive into the "Carnival of Death" thread on the dark web adds an authentic layer of intrigue, reflecting the growing fascination and dangers associated with online conspiracy communities. The portrayal of Remy stands out as he embodies the archetype of the dangerous yet magnetic figure, drawing readers into a complex psychological dance that challenges traditional roles of predator and prey. Their evolving relationship, marked by obsession and blurred boundaries, explores themes of trust, vulnerability, and the human desire to uncover hidden truths—even at great risk. What resonated with me personally was how the story highlights the dark side of human curiosity and the consequences that come with chasing forbidden knowledge. The references to real-world elements like the dark web and unsolved crimes make the plot feel disturbingly plausible, enhancing the horror and thrill. For fans of dark romance and true crime podcasts, this book offers a unique crossover appeal. It also invites reflection on how internet culture can fuel dangerous obsessions. The trigger warnings are important to note, as the book does not shy away from intense topics such as violence and stalking, making it essential for sensitive readers to proceed with caution. As a fan of overlapping series, I'm intrigued by Winter's approach to interconnected storytelling. The potential crossover with the Blackwell Brothers hints at a wider narrative universe that many readers will find exciting. Overall, Carnival Shadows is a compelling finale that satisfies the series' promise while leaving room for new stories to emerge in a familiar dark carnival setting.
