🌙✨ Book Review: House of Sky and Breath ✨🌙
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
One line from this book will forever live rent-free in my mind:
"Hello Bryce Quinlan, my name is..."
😱😱😱
Oh, you thought I was going to tell you? Absolutely not. 😉💅
If you've read this book, then you already know exactly why I was screaming, kicking my feet, and immediately needed someone to talk to about that ending.
House of Sky and Breath picks up after the events of House of Earth and Blood and follows Bryce Quinlan, Hunt Athalar, and the rest of the Crescent City crew as they uncover dangerous secrets, navigate growing rebellions, and face threats that could change their world forever. The deeper they dig, the more complicated everything becomes, and by the end, nothing will ever be the same.
This book gave me everything I wanted from a sequel. The stakes were higher, the world expanded, and the character development kept me completely invested.
Can we PLEASE talk about Ruhn and Agent Day? Because OMG. Their chemistry was EVERYTHING. Every interaction had me hooked, and the entire time I was trying to figure out who Agent Day really was. 🤯
I had narrowed it down to three women, and I'm proud to say I guessed correctly. Honestly, I'm still shocked that I was right, but I'll take the win. 😂
Also we need to talk about Therion for a second? Because we got so much more of him in this book, and I was living for it. Honestly, Therion could send me an otter-delivered message and I'd meet him anywhere. 🦦😂
We also got more Ithan. I know this might be a hot take, but he's not one of my favorite characters. I don't dislike him, but compared to some of the other characters in this series, he just doesn't grab my attention the same way.
Now, I will say that Crescent City continues to be a series that demands your full attention. There are a lot of moving parts, characters, and storylines to keep track of. But once everything starts connecting, it's impossible not to become obsessed.
And then Sarah J. Maas decided to hit us with THAT ENDING.
The way my jaw dropped.
The way I immediately needed the next book.
The way I sat there staring at the wall trying to process what I had just read.
I was absolutely screaming by the final pages, and I cannot wait to see how this story progresses. If the ending didn't leave you emotionally unwell, we clearly did not read the same book. 😂
💭 Did you guess who Agent Day was? Or were you completely shocked by the reveal? And tell me your favorite Crescent City character because I need to know!

Okay, so you've read my initial scream-worthy review of *House of Sky and Breath*, and now you're probably wondering, 'But what actually happens?!' While I won't spoil every single jaw-dropping twist, let's dive a bit deeper into the heart of Crescent City Book 2 and unpack some of the epic plot points that kept me glued to the pages. This book truly picks up right where House of Earth and Blood left us, throwing Bryce Quinlan and Hunt Athalar straight into the deep end. Their newfound relationship is tested almost immediately as they navigate the treacherous political landscape of Midgard. The initial glow of their bond has to contend with the immense pressures of their positions and the secrets they're uncovering. It's not just about their love story; it's about how they fight for a future together amidst chaos. One of the biggest elements in House of Sky and Breath is the escalating rebellion against the Archangels and, more crucially, the oppressive Asteri. The stakes are higher than ever as Bryce and Hunt, along with their trusted circle, start to piece together the true history of their world and the sinister agenda of those in power. Every character feels like they're playing a critical role in this intricate dance of defiance and discovery. We see how different factions, from the Princes of Hell to the Fae, are all entangled in this looming conflict, and the book masterfully expands on these alliances and rivalries. And oh, the characters! My initial review touched on Ruhn and Agent Day, but seriously, their storyline is a highlight. The slow burn, the mystery surrounding Agent Day's true identity, and their undeniable chemistry adds such a rich layer to the narrative. It’s not just a side plot; it feels intrinsically linked to the larger fight for freedom. Then there's Therion, who truly steps into his own in this installment. His growth and increased presence were incredibly satisfying – honestly, I'm ready for more of him in future books! Even Ithan, who might not be everyone’s favorite, gets a significant arc that pushes him to confront his own loyalties and desires. The world-building in House of Sky and Breath is also next-level. Sarah J. Maas doesn't just give us more of what we loved; she expands the scope dramatically, revealing ancient prophecies, forgotten histories, and the true power dynamics of the universe. It’s like peeling back layers of an onion, each new revelation more mind-blowing than the last. You start to understand the true threat of the Asteri and why their control needs to be broken. The description of Hunt, the "winged male character" often seen on the book's iconic cover, truly comes to life as he grapples with his past and future, all under the symbolic "golden crescent moon" that represents so much hope and rebellion in this series. The imagery of lightning and power throughout the book perfectly captures the intensity of the struggles. Ultimately, House of Sky and Breath is a masterclass in sequel writing. It deepens character connections, raises the stakes exponentially, and delivers revelations that completely reframe everything you thought you knew. If you're looking for a summary that hints at the intricate plot, the emotional rollercoaster, and the unforgettable moments without spoiling that ending, this book is a must-read. Seriously, if you've read it, let me know what plot twist left you absolutely speechless!
