... Read moreOkay, so you've seen my go-to chest and triceps routine from my Planfit app, but let me tell you why I love combining these two muscle groups and how I make the most of each session! Pairing chest and triceps is a classic for a reason – many chest exercises naturally engage your triceps, so it's super efficient. It allows for a powerful push-focused workout, hitting both muscles hard before they get too fatigued. Before I even touch a dumbbell, I always make sure to properly warm up. A few minutes on the Step Mill or a light cardio machine gets my blood flowing, followed by some dynamic stretches for my shoulders and arms. Trust me, it makes a huge difference in preventing injury and getting those muscles ready to work. For my chest portion, the Dumbbell Bench Press is a staple. I find that using dumbbells allows for a greater range of motion compared to a barbell, and I can really focus on the squeeze at the top. I aim for controlled movements, not just throwing the weights up. Then, the Incline Dumbbell Fly really helps hit the upper chest, which I personally find challenging to develop. When doing these, I concentrate on a slow, controlled stretch at the bottom and bringing the dumbbells together almost like I'm hugging a tree, feeling that deep contraction. It's all about mind-muscle connection! Moving onto triceps, Bench Dips are fantastic for bodyweight strength. If I'm feeling strong, I'll add a weight plate on my lap for an extra challenge. Proper form is key here: keep your back close to the bench and go deep enough to feel the stretch in your triceps without straining your shoulders. Then there are Tricep Extensions, which I often do overhead with a single dumbbell or using a cable machine. These really isolate the triceps for that horseshoe shape. And a personal favorite, especially hitting one of those key search queries, is the Incline Dumbbell Kickback. I find doing these on an incline bench helps me stabilize better and really focus on squeezing at the top of the movement to fully contract the tricep. It’s all about maintaining that upper arm position and letting the forearm do the work, giving you maximum isolation. Now, you might have noticed my original graphic couldn't fit the entire abs circuit, but trust me, it's a vital part of my full routine! After my push day, I love adding some core work. Exercises like Seated Knee Ups and Standing Bicycle Crunches are great for targeting different parts of the abs, and I always finish with a solid Plank to build overall core stability. A strong core supports all your other lifts, so don't skip it! After all that hard work, a good cool-down and some static stretching are essential. It helps with recovery and flexibility, getting me ready for my next workout. Remember, consistency is key, and listening to your body is even more important. Don't be afraid to adjust the weights or reps to suit your current strength level. Every workout is a step forward, and seeing progress, no matter how small, is the best motivation. What are your favorite chest or tricep exercises? I’d love to hear your thoughts and tips!
