Trey…. Part 2

Anjelys stood there with her arms folded tight across her chest, watching Trey tuck his phone back into his pocket like nothing just happened.

Years.

Years of silence, pain, unanswered questions — and the first real moment they speak again gets interrupted by another woman.

By Zaire.

By the life he built without her.

“So that’s her?” Anjelys repeated slowly, her voice low but sharp. “The one you run for.”

Trey sighed. “Anjelys, don’t start.”

“Oh I’m starting,” she laughed bitterly. “I finally get you back in front of me after all this time and she snaps her fingers and you move.”

“She has my son,” Trey said calmly. “That’s different.”

“That’s convenient.”

He grabbed his jacket. “I need to go.”

“Of course you do,” she said, clapping softly. “Go play family man. Go tuck him in. Go kiss her forehead like you weren’t just standing here with me two minutes ago.”

Trey paused at the door.

“You don’t have to disrespect her.”

Anjelys’ smile dropped instantly.

“Oh so now you protecting her?” she snapped. “You never protected me like that.”

“That’s not fair.”

“What’s not fair is I waited on you,” she shot back. “I held you down when you had nothing. Then I disappear and you pop up with a baby and a whole new woman.”

Silence sat heavy between them.

“You loved her,” Anjelys said quietly, eyes burning. “I can hear it in your voice.”

Trey didn’t answer.

That was the answer.

Her laugh came out shaky. “Wow. You really moved on.”

“I had to,” he said softly.

She stepped closer. “No, Trey. You replaced me.”

His jaw tightened. “I’m not doing this.”

He turned for the door again.

“That baby won’t keep you forever,” she called after him. “And when she finally sees who you really are, you gonna come running back.”

Trey stopped.

“You don’t know Zaire.”

Anjelys smiled coldly.

“Oh I will.”

And the way she said it made something twist in his gut.

Because Anjelys wasn’t just hurt.

She was plotting.
