Revenge For Her …. Part 3

Valentine’s Day morning came soft and pink.

The sky was clear.

The dogs barked for breakfast like always.

Eva moved calmly through the kitchen, pouring food into their bowls.

The news played in the background.

“Breaking this morning — a woman reported missing late last night after leaving a downtown restaurant on Valentine’s Day…”

Eva didn’t look up.

She stirred her coffee slowly.

“…last seen with her boyfriend. Police say there were signs of a struggle in the parking garage.”

One of the dogs growled low.

Eva finally glanced at the screen.

The woman’s photo flashed.

It was the same woman Eva had seen holding hands with him two weeks ago.

The same woman who smiled too hard.

Eva sipped her coffee.

“Shame,” she murmured.

“Love makes people careless.”

Later that day, Eva dressed in red.

Her phone buzzed.

Him:

I messed up. Can we talk tonight? I’ll come by.

She stared at the message for a long moment.

Then replied:

Sure. Come over. I cooked.

Candles were lit when he arrived.

The house smelled like steak and wine.

“You didn’t have to do all this,” he said nervously.

Eva smiled sweetly.

“It’s Valentine’s Day.”

They ate.

He rambled about stress. About mistakes. About how he “never meant for things to go that far.”

Eva listened quietly.

Then she stood.

“I made dessert.”

From the freezer she pulled out a heart-shaped box of chocolates.

He laughed. “You’re really trying to win me back, huh?”

Eva set it in front of him.

“Open it.”

Inside wasn’t candy.

It was a phone.

Scratched. Cracked. Still blinking with missed calls.

His face drained of color.

“Where did you get that?” he whispered.

Eva tilted her head.

“You recognize it?”

“That’s—”

“Hers,” Eva finished.

Silence screamed between them.

“I found it in the river,” she lied smoothly.

“Along with your necklace.”

Tears filled his eyes. “Eva… I didn’t hurt her.”

Eva leaned close.

“No,” she said softly.

“I did.”

His breath caught.

“She wouldn’t stop texting you,” Eva continued calmly.

“She kept calling you while we were together. Begging. Crying.”

She smiled.

“So I gave her closure.”

He jumped up from the table.

“You’re sick!”

Eva’s voice stayed gentle.

“No. I’m loyal.”

The dogs began barking wildly.

“Sit,” Eva said sharply.

They went quiet instantly.

He backed toward the door.

“You think the police won’t find out?”

Eva laughed.

“They already closed her case as a runaway this morning.”

He froze.

Eva stepped closer.

“People disappear easier on holidays,” she whispered.

“Everyone’s distracted by love.”

His knees buckled.

“You loved me,” he sobbed.

Eva wiped a tear from his cheek.

“I did.”

Then her tone hardened.

“And you ruined it.”

Later that night, Eva washed the dishes calmly.

The news played again.

“Authorities now say the missing woman’s boyfriend has also vanished…”

Eva smiled faintly.

“Shouldn’t be wandering off in places you don’t belong.”

The dogs ate like regular.

... Read moreReading "Revenge For Her …. Part 3" brought to mind how impactful storytelling can be when blending emotional depth with suspense. Eva's calculated calm contrasted with the underlying tension makes for a compelling narrative where betrayal and pain fuel her actions. In real life, dealing with betrayal can leave one feeling exposed and vulnerable; this story echoes that raw emotion but takes it a step further, exploring the darker side of loyalty and justice. What struck me deeply about Eva’s story is her use of everyday moments—like preparing breakfast, pouring coffee, or cooking dinner—to mask the storm brewing inside. It reminds me of how people often hide their true feelings behind a composed exterior, especially when grappling with heartbreak. The symbolism of the heart-shaped chocolate box containing a cracked phone is a powerful metaphor for shattered trust. If you enjoy stories that challenge your perception of right and wrong, this part of Eva’s revenge saga captivates with its quiet menace and surprises. It’s a reminder that people’s reactions to heartbreak vary vastly, and sometimes the pain pushes them toward actions that blur moral lines—and that adds layers of complexity to any narrative. For readers who might feel drawn to themes of loyalty, vengeance, or psychological drama, this installment serves as a profound exploration of those emotions. It also sparks thought on how holidays like Valentine’s Day amplify emotions and often expose vulnerabilities people usually keep hidden. Overall, Eva’s story is a vivid example of how personal pain can transform into a haunting form of empowerment—and a cautionary tale of how love’s shadows can lead to unexpected consequences.
