Trey Pre sequel

Trey couldn’t breathe.

The curve of Anjelys’ stomach stayed in his vision like a spotlight.

“She’s really pregnant,” Zaire whispered.

His throat tightened. “I didn’t know.”

But Zaire was already reading his thoughts.

“You think it’s yours.”

He didn’t answer.

Because for a second… he had.

The music swelled as Anjelys reached the end of the runway and turned gracefully.

And that’s when she did it.

Her eyes flicked toward Trey.

Just for a moment.

Not longing.

Not anger.

Closure.

Then she placed her hand over her stomach — gentle, protective — and smiled.

Not at him.

Past him.

At a tall man standing near the stage with a VIP badge and worry written all over his face.

He rushed forward the moment the show ended.

Wrapped his arms around her carefully.

Kissed her forehead.

Whispered something that made her laugh softly.

Zaire followed Trey’s gaze.

“That’s not you,” she said slowly.

Trey shook his head.

“No.”

The man’s hand rested on Anjelys’ stomach like it belonged there.

Like he’d done it a thousand times.

A family gesture.

Not new.

Not awkward.

Natural.

Relief crashed through Trey’s chest so fast it almost made him dizzy.

“That’s her man,” Zaire said. “And that’s his baby.”

Trey exhaled deeply, the tension leaving his shoulders.

“Thank God.”

Zaire looked at him sideways. “So you were scared.”

He nodded once. “For a second.”

She studied his face, then smiled softly.

“But you’re okay now.”

“Yeah,” he said quietly. “I am.”

Because seeing her loved — truly loved — by someone else finally made it real.

The past was done.

No loose ends.

No hidden surprises.

Just memories.

Anjelys glanced back one last time as she walked away.

Not with pain.

Not with hope.

But peace.

And Trey knew then — that chapter wasn’t just closed.

It was sealed.

Backstage buzzed with excitement.

Stylists rushed past, laughing, shouting compliments, snapping pictures. The air smelled like perfume, hairspray, and victory.

Anjelys stepped off the runway and barely had time to breathe before strong arms wrapped gently around her.

“You were incredible,” her man said softly against her temple. “Like always.”

She smiled, relaxing into him. “I was nervous.”

“You couldn’t tell,” he laughed. “You shut that whole place down.”

She pulled back just enough to look at him. “Did you see the way they stood up at the end?”

“I saw,” he said proudly. “That’s my wife.”

Her heart warmed at the word.

Wife.

“And our little superstar behaved,” she added, rubbing her belly. “No kicks until the finale.”

He leaned down and kissed her stomach. “Already knows when it’s time to shine.”

She laughed quietly. “You’re so extra.”

“Only for you.”

For a moment, everything felt perfect.

Then movement caught her eye.

Trey.

Walking toward her.

Her breath hitched slightly — not from nerves, but from surprise.

He stopped a few feet away.

“Anjelys,” he said politely. “You did amazing out there. Congratulations.”

“Thank you,” she replied sincerely. “That means a lot.”

There was an awkward pause.

Her husband stood right beside her, hand resting protectively on her back.

Trey didn’t look at him.

Didn’t acknowledge him.

Didn’t introduce himself.

He just nodded once at Anjelys.

“Take care,” Trey said.

“You too,” she answered softly.

And just like that, he walked past them.

Her husband watched him go, then looked back at her.

“That him?” he asked calmly.

She nodded.

“My ex.”

He hummed lightly. “Figured.”

“You okay?” she asked.

“Yeah,” he said, squeezing her waist. “I’m not threatened by a chapter you already closed.”

She smiled, grateful all over again.

“I chose you,” she said quietly.

“And I choose you every day.”

They leaned their foreheads together as the noise of the backstage faded into the background.

While behind them, Trey kept walking — not looking back once.

Because some congratulations are just that.

Not invitations.

Not reopenings.

Just closure.

... Read moreReading this story about Trey and Anjelys reminds me of the complex feelings that follow the end of a significant relationship. It's not always easy to let go or accept new realities, especially when unexpected moments—like discovering a pregnancy—can stir up past fears and uncertainties. In my experience, closure doesn't come instantly; it unfolds gradually, often when you least expect it. Trey’s moment of panic, believing the child might be his, is something many can relate to as it reflects the vulnerability we feel when confronting unresolved parts of our past. What I found particularly powerful in this story was the emphasis on genuine closure—not just shutting a chapter but sealing it so that healing and growth can truly begin. Seeing Anjelys with her husband and the tender gesture he shows towards her pregnancy symbolizes a new life filled with love and security, which ultimately helps Trey find peace. If you have ever dealt with the emotional rollercoaster accompanying breakups, especially when kids or future plans are involved, this narrative resonates deeply. It shows that sometimes, the most courageous act is to acknowledge your feelings fully, face the truth, and then choose to move forward without lingering doubts. Furthermore, the scene backstage reflects the human side of triumph and support through the chaos of life events—reminding us that celebrating others’ victories can also be part of our healing journey. This story encourages readers to embrace closure as a gift, not a loss. It highlights that closure is about accepting what was and appreciating what is, allowing both the past and future to coexist peacefully in our lives.
