Author Mae

I am an author, I do not care what kinda app Lemon8 is. Respectfully, I CHOSE to write short stories on this app because I need to show people that I am an author. I need yall to get in tuned with my stories. I also am a script writer. I’ve written for 3 independent films.

I needed to share my short stories and let yall know as well that I am an independent author who has written books and who has the true talent to want to write books. I do not care if this is not the app to write stories, it is in MY BOOK. remember this is MY PAGE. 🤣 I am not going to be like everyone else and just post typical things that everyone else post. I am an author. I’ve written four books. I’ll be working on my fifth.

Another thing too, the stories I write on here is for grown people. Some short stories I write can also be for the babies but for the time being, until I grow my audience, I’ll stick to the ghetto hood books until I gain the recognition as an author. 💯

I deserve that. For the meantime, for those that feel like my short stories is too much, dont read my stories. Keep scrolling. Or block me. It’s really that simple. To take time out of your day to tell me that there’s children on this app based off the stories I write, I do not care. Kids are on YouTube/ TikTok, etc. seeing worse than the kinda stories i post. Please pay it cause IDGAF!

Good day. 🤭🤣

... Read moreAs an independent author actively sharing on Lemon8, I’ve found it to be a surprisingly flexible platform despite what many might expect. While it’s not traditionally known as a space for fiction writing, it gives authors like me a chance to connect with readers directly and build a unique audience. My stories tend to lean into the real-life, 'ghetto hood' genre, which resonates with many adults who appreciate raw and authentic storytelling. What’s important for me is using this platform to carve out my own space and not conform to typical app content. My experience writing for independent films has enriched my storytelling style, adding cinematic elements that make my short stories vivid and gripping. It’s also empowering to assert my independence as an author here—sharing my journey through four published books and preparations for the fifth, showing that it's possible to create and grow an audience beyond conventional publishing methods. I also want to make clear that my writing is aimed mainly at adults, though some stories might be suitable for younger readers. I do understand that not all content here is for everyone, so I encourage readers to simply scroll past if it’s not their taste. Platforms like YouTube and TikTok also have their share of mature content accessible to kids, so it reflects a bigger conversation about content consumption online. Overall, being an author on Lemon8 is about more than just posting stories; it’s about asserting creative freedom and connecting with readers who value genuine voices. For those interested in discovering new, unapologetic storytelling, following authors who challenge norms can be a rewarding experience. So if you’re looking for fresh perspectives and straight talk in short story format, give it a try and see what resonates with you.
