Stories Sprinkled with Cocoa & Magic

✨ Today’s Target trip with my daughter turned into something so special. When we wandered over to the kids’ book section, I noticed sooo many beautiful covers filled with little brown faces smiling back at us. 🌸📚

It stopped me for a moment, because growing up I didn’t have shelves full of books where the main characters looked like me. Representation wasn’t something I could find easily in a storybook. And yet here we were,standing in front of a wall of stories where brown kids are the heroes, the dreamers, the explorers. 🌟

Representation matters at every age. For children, it’s seeing themselves reflected in magic, in bravery, in kindness. For us as parents, it’s knowing our babies are growing up with images and words that affirm their worth and their place in every story. 🫶🏾

I left that aisle with a full heart (and a few extra books in the cart ‼️😅). This is the kind of progress that makes me hopeful for the next generation. 💜#childrenspicturebooks #childhoodimagination #representationmatters
