... Read moreOh my goodness, fellow spooky season lovers! I just have to share my absolute favorite fall tradition: the Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch at Irvine Regional Park! Every year, my family and I look forward to this, and it never disappoints. It truly kicks off the autumn vibes here in Orange County, and I always leave with so many beautiful memories (and pumpkins, of course!). First things first, let's talk about the star of the show: the train ride! It's not just any train ride; it's a charming journey on their iconic green train that winds through the park, giving you scenic views of the pumpkin patch and the beautiful fall foliage. My top tip: definitely sign up for their email list before you go! They send out those amazing buy-one-get-one-free coupons for the train tickets, which is a huge money-saver, especially if you're bringing the whole family. We usually go early in the day to beat the crowds for the train – it gets popular fast! After our train adventure, we always head straight to the main pumpkin patch. It's truly a sight to behold, filled with what seems like an endless sea of various pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. You’ll find everything from tiny decorative gourds to giant carving pumpkins. One of my kids' favorite things to do is climb on the huge piles of orange pumpkins and play hide-and-seek among them. It's also where we get some of our best photos – the rustic backdrop with cute Halloween signs like 'Boo' and 'WELCOME' makes for perfect Instagram moments! Beyond the pumpkins and the train, there's so much more to keep everyone entertained. The petting zoo is always a hit with the little ones; they get to interact with adorable farm animals. And for the adventurous, there's a fun haunted house that's spooky enough for older kids but not too terrifying for the younger crowd. My older one loves the pony rides too! It’s incredible how many activities they pack into one place. Now for some practical tips from my experience: Parking: While the pumpkin patch entry itself is free, there is a small parking fee ($3 on weekdays, $7 on weekends). Make sure to have cash or card ready. I'd recommend arriving as early as possible on weekends to snag a good spot and avoid long lines. What to Bring: A stroller or wagon is a lifesaver if you have small children, especially for carrying all those pumpkins! Don't forget water bottles, sunscreen, and your camera. You'll want to capture every moment. Food: They usually have snack vendors, but you can also bring your own picnic to enjoy in the park. It’s a great way to save a few bucks and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Cost: Many activities like the train ride, haunted house, or pony rides have individual ticket costs, so budget accordingly. However, just walking around the patch and enjoying the atmosphere is completely free, which is fantastic! Overall, the Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch is an absolute must-do for families during spooky season. It’s a place where you can create lasting memories, enjoy the crisp fall air, and get into the Halloween spirit. I can't recommend it enough – go check it out and let me know what you think!
