... Read moreHey everyone! I'm so excited to finally share a project that's been a true labor of love for me: my Tally Hall fan art series, reimagined through the incredible visual lens of the Arcane art style. As a huge Tally Hall fan, I've always been fascinated by their distinct aesthetic and unique musical storytelling. When I first watched Arcane, I was immediately struck by its gritty, expressive, and richly detailed animation, and an idea sparked: what if I brought the Tally Hall members into that world?
Getting started was a blast! I wanted to capture the essence of each member while giving them that signature Arcane flair. Imagine a stylized portrait of a man with dark hair and a beard, but with the dramatic lighting and line work you'd expect from the show. Or another with glasses, his features emphasized by sharp, almost painterly textures against a vibrant green background. It wasn't just about drawing them; it was about interpreting their individual vibes. For instance, creating a Joe Hawley fanart piece with that distinct Arcane intensity was a particular joy. I played with different textured backgrounds – yellow, green, grey, red, blue, orange – to give each portrait its own mood, almost like a collection of Tally Hall posters for a whole new universe.
One of the most fun challenges was blending Tally Hall's often quirky and colorful imagery with Arcane's darker, more detailed style. I focused on bold outlines, stark contrasts, and dramatic expressions to make sure these Tally Hall art pieces truly popped. Seeing the band members, from the one with blonde hair and a light beard to the one with curly dark hair and a full beard, come alive in this new way has been incredibly rewarding. Each piece aims to be a unique 'tally art' contribution, reflecting my passion for both the band and the animation style. You might even notice my little signature, the 'Joey Bones' text, subtly placed in the corners of each piece, just like a watermark on my personal collection.
For those of you who appreciate the broader 'aesthetic aesthetic Tally Hall' universe, I think you'll really connect with these interpretations. It's about exploring new dimensions for the band we love, whether it’s referencing tracks like 'Beneath the Surface' through mood, or just celebrating the overall 'style hall' of their music. The Tally Hall fandom is so vibrant, and it's amazing to see how our collective love for the band, including related projects like Cojum Dip, inspires so much creativity. This project is my way of giving back to that community and hopefully sparking some new conversations about Tally Hall's enduring appeal. I'd love to hear which portrait is your favorite and what other styles you think Tally Hall would look amazing in!
