IS THIS $6.80 LUNCH SPOT WORTH YOUR LUNCH TIME?

DABBA STREET

A menu that riffs off classics like biryani and butter chicken, paired with lighter, modern sides. We tested if it actually works in a 1-hour lunch window.

ANALYSIS:

🍽 TASTE - 4.5/5

🫓BUTTER CHICKEN PITA ($6.80) - 4/5

Soft, doughy pita packed with thick, creamy butter chicken which was rich, slightly heavy, but well-spiced. They were generous with fillings and sauces but the sauces i picked didn’t fully come together. (tikka masala + garlic aioli) The pita was not mixed thoroughly and onions were piled on towards the end which i didn't mind.

🌯INDIAN TANDOORI CHICKEN BIRYARITO ($6.80) - 3.5/5

Well-balanced wrap with evenly distributed fillings. Every bite was consistent. Generous toppings, especially onions, which added a nice crunch. The Tandoori chicken leaned mild, i prefer stronger tasting dishes. Tomato salsa helped lift it, while the tahini + beet yogurt combo added a nice twist.

💸 VALUE — 5/5

Generous portions with a wide variety of choices to add. Worth it for a quick lunch break, ensuring a filling and delicious meal/snack. Meal was served fresh too, grilled after you have ordered.

📄 PRACTICALITY — 5/5

Order was ready in under 10 minutes with a smooth, fuss-free process, fast enough for a work lunch, though I only visited during non-peak hours. Queues may build during peak hours.

👬 EXPERIENCE — 5/5

Fuss-free and efficient . Self-ordering kiosk is easy to use, food is prepared in front of you, and the setup feels clean and hygienic.

VERDICT: 4/5

Dabba Street is a good spot for a work lunch. Quick, fuss-free, and filling enough to keep you going through the afternoon. My flavours didn’t fully hit for me, but its up to you to pick your own fillings. Overall the wraps and pitas are tasty, easy to eat, and won’t slow you down at work.

Dabba Street Northpoint

... Read moreFrom my personal experience, Dabba Street really stands out when you're looking for a quick yet satisfying lunch that won't break the bank. The ability to customize your wrap with a variety of fillings and toppings like tikka masala, garlic aioli, beet yogurt, and tomato salsa means you can really tailor the flavors to suit your palate. I appreciated how freshly the food was prepared—grilled only after ordering, ensuring each wrap is served hot and fresh. One tip is to be mindful of the filling combinations. For example, the Butter Chicken Pita is rich and creamy but can feel a little heavy if the sauces don’t harmonize well. I found mixing the tikka masala with garlic aioli was a unique palate experience, though it did not fully meld. Meanwhile, the Indian Tandoori Chicken Biryarito offers a milder flavor profile, which is great if you prefer something lighter but still want a bit of zest from the lemon tahini and beet yogurt. The generous toppings, especially the onions, add a nice crunch and texture contrast, enhancing every bite. The ordering experience is also a highlight. Using the self-order kiosk speeds things up and reduces waiting times, which is crucial during a one-hour lunch break. While the queues might get longer during peak hours, the overall process remains smooth and fuss-free. The cleanliness and hygienic food preparation were noticeable, which gave me confidence in the quality and safety of the meals. If you work nearby or find yourself in the North Point or Bugis Junction areas, Dabba Street offers a wide selection of affordable Indian fusion wraps perfect for a fast yet fulfilling lunch. It's not just about quick food; it’s about enjoying flavorful meals that won't slow you down during your busy workday. Definitely a spot to keep in mind for your regular work lunch options!
