When I visited Houston for the rodeo weekend, I found that the real charm lies beyond the big event itself. Exploring neighborhoods like Montrose and Midtown gave me a feel for the city’s vibrant energy and local culture. For coffee lovers, spots such as Plants+Coffee and Brass Tacks offered amazing brews paired with unique atmospheres—perfect for starting your day before the rodeo. Food was definitely a highlight of my trip. I ventured into The Sunrise House for breakfast, enjoying their fresh and delicious options, and later hit up The Breakfast Klub, which locals rave about for its hearty Southern dishes. For dinner, I found Moxie’s and Anvil Refuge to serve up incredible meals along with a good selection of local craft beers like those from Karbach and Saint Arnold breweries. Don’t miss walking through Buffalo Bayou Park for some outdoor time or catching a glimpse of the Museum of Natural Science and Fine Arts Museum to balance out the rodeo festivities with cultural experiences. Overall, focusing on these local gems rather than busy tourist spots made my rodeo weekend truly memorable.
