One of my Fave Series
If there is one series I will always praise and recommend, it is J.D. Robb’s In Death series. I started reading it in 2020 and am more determined than ever to catch up. Yes, it is a long series, but it is worth losing sleep over.
It also helps that the FMC, Eve Dallas, is one of my favorite heroines, and her husband, Roarke, is an MMC in a league of his own. (No other fictional hero compares to Roarke) Eve is lucky to have him by her side.
One of my favorite scenes in ‘Promises in Death’ is when Eve has to stay for the bridal shower at her own house and tries to convince Roarke to stay, but he is off with the guys to entertain them in Las Vegas. She is not happy about it. Poor Eve. She’s not one who likes getting pampered and prodded.
If you love Romantic Suspense/Police Procedurals, this series is a must-read. It has a great cast of characters, suspense, mystery, a futuristic setting, and each book is hard to put down.

Having been an avid reader of J.D. Robb’s In Death series since 2020, I can confidently say that it offers a unique mix of elements that few series can match. The blend of futuristic crime-solving with deep romantic connections between Eve Dallas and Roarke truly sets it apart. I've found that the characterization deeply resonates; Eve's strength and no-nonsense attitude paired with Roarke’s charm and unwavering support paint a compelling portrait of a partnership that's both relatable and aspirational. One of the aspects I appreciate most is how the series doesn't shy away from the realities of police work, intertwining 'Murder Investigation Police Procedural' elements with personal growth and relationship dynamics. For instance, in 'Promises in Death', the contrast between Eve’s reluctance to be pampered and Roarke’s lightheartedness highlights both tension and humor, making their story richly layered. I've also found the supporting cast, including characters like Peabody and Feeney, enrich the narrative, providing depth to the police procedural aspect while also fostering a tight-knit community feel. The futuristic setting adds another layer of intrigue, envisioning technology and societal shifts that make the stories fresh and thought-provoking. For anyone who loves romantic suspense and well-crafted mysteries, this series delivers on multiple fronts. It's not just the suspense or romance but the way Robb integrates these elements into engaging storytelling that keeps me eagerly turning pages, often late into the night. Whether you’re new to the series or catching up like I did, each book is a rewarding journey. I encourage any fan of the genre to dive in and experience why these stories are beloved by many.
