how to *EASILY* hide an eye sore - wall edition!💫
hi friends!! i wanted to share with you all how I transformed this wall from an eye sore to a cute and aesthetic entry way!
this wall is right as you walk into my apartment, and is something that guests see as soon as they walk in!
i first created a "cleaning supplies" cart which is cute & aesthetic, but also extremely useful since I don't have any storage cabinets for cleaning supplies!
next, you can never go wrong with a plant, especially with a cute planter!
and just like that, with those two additions, the wall is looking SO much better and guests actually compliment this wall instead of seeing it as an eye sore!
thank you for reading! i hope you enjoyed!!

Hey Lemon8 fam! So glad you found my tips for hiding those pesky wall eyesores. It's a common struggle, especially in smaller apartments where every inch counts, and you want your entryway to feel welcoming, not cluttered with utility boxes! Beyond my cleaning cart and plant trick, I've got a few more ideas that have helped me (and friends!) tackle other unsightly wall elements, like that dreaded thermostat or those ugly electrical power boxes and outlets. First off, let's talk more about the thermostat. While a plant or a cart in front of it works wonders, sometimes you need a more permanent solution or something that still allows easy access. Have you considered a decorative frame around your thermostat? You can buy pre-made decorative covers that look like a small framed picture or shadow box. Or, if you're a bit handy, you can DIY one! I saw a friend create a beautiful wooden frame that matched her gallery wall, making the thermostat look like just another piece of art. Just make sure it doesn't restrict airflow for proper temperature readings! Another clever trick is to place a lightweight piece of wall art on a hinge. When you need to adjust the temperature, you just swing the picture open! For general small corner entryway ideas and hiding other wall eyesores, think about multi-functional pieces. A narrow console table with baskets underneath can hide unsightly shoes or wires, while the top can hold a small lamp or a decorative tray. Above it, a large mirror not only makes the space feel bigger but can also strategically reflect light away from an unattractive spot or entirely cover a small electrical power box if positioned correctly. Floating shelves are another go-to! They provide a spot for keys, mail, or small decorative items, and can be arranged to distract from or even partially obscure an outlet or a patch of uneven paint. What about those really awkward electrical power boxes or internet routers? My personal favorite for these is a small, stylish cabinet or a decorative screen. I once used a pretty fabric screen that folded flat when not needed but could easily be pulled out to hide an entire section of wall. For things like routers and modems, a decorative box with ventilation holes can keep them out of sight while still allowing them to function. You can even turn it into a charging station by drilling small holes for cables! And don't forget the power of textiles! A strategically placed wall tapestry or a piece of macrame art can draw the eye away from imperfections and add warmth to your entryway. I even saw someone use a beautiful, oversized calendar in a stylish frame to cover a small patch of damaged wallpaper. The key is to think creatively and consider items that serve a purpose while also boosting your decor. It’s all about making your home feel cozy and intentional, even in those tricky spots! I hope these extra tips give you even more inspiration to transform those 'eye sore' walls into beautiful, functional spaces. Happy decorating!
