how to care for your furniture 🛋️

hi friends!!

i hope you're doing well! so glad you made your way over to my page, glad you're here!

here are three ways on how i take care of my furniture to make it last longer!

1. vacuum the couch!!!!! not only does it need to be steam cleaned but especially with fabric couches, they need to be vacuumed and deep cleaned very often!

2. dust EVERYTHING! dust is a silent killer so no matter if it's a book shelf, lamp, cat tower, photos on the wall, dust EVERYTHING!

3. wipe down glass coffee table once a day to keep it fresh and clean!

any things you do that i can incorporate into my cleaning routine?!

Based on the core tips of vacuuming your couch at least once a week to remove dust, pet hair, and everyday dirt, it’s important to use a vacuum with an upholstery attachment to avoid damaging fabric surfaces. For stain-prone or heavily used sofas, occasional steam cleaning can deeply sanitize and refresh the fabric. Dusting is another crucial routine that can’t be overlooked. Dust tends to accumulate on all furniture surfaces including bookshelves, lamps, cat towers, and wall art. Regular dusting helps prevent buildup that can degrade both wood finishes and fabric fibers. Using microfiber cloths is advised since they trap dust efficiently without scratching surfaces. For glass coffee tables and counters, wiping down daily with a non-abrasive cleaner keeps them free from fingerprints and smudges, preserving their shine. Be sure to use gentle glass cleaners or homemade solutions such as diluted vinegar to avoid streaks. Additional proactive steps include placing furniture away from direct sunlight to reduce fading, using coasters and placemats to prevent stains and heat marks, and rotating cushions regularly to distribute wear evenly. Also, maintain an optimal indoor humidity level, ideally between 30-50%, to prevent wood from cracking or warping. Integrating these comprehensive upkeep techniques ensures that your furniture remains clean, attractive, and durable for years to come.
