how I decorate on a tight budget💌

HI FRIENDS!

i'm in my post grad- wanting to decorate my apartment-but also looking for a stable job- era✨

here are a few ways that i make both work! and to be honest, it's all about how you add your unique style, even if it looks a little silly, if you're passionate about it, it'll look amazing!

- this is a given, but PLANTS!!! real or fake but you can get them at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, local plant shops, literally so many places and they normally aren't too pricey.

- magazines and newspapers!!! they add character to your space and newspapers are all around downtown restaurants + coffee shops, so make sure to snag one! magazines can be thrifted and you can find vintage ones which is always super cool!

- reusing aesthetic jars for fun reasons! this used to be a jam jar and i placed a few fun photo booth strips to be displayed for my guests to see!

- printing out photos from Staples for less than $2 to use as wall art! i'm the type of person who loves to switch out wall art extremely often, so most of the time, I don't put them in picture frames, I literally just like to put them on the wall (because I know I will be changing them often) and for the time being, it adds to my space immensely!

any other things you guys do on a budget?!

... Read moreHey everyone! Following up on my last post about decorating my post-grad apartment on a budget, I wanted to dive even deeper into finding those hidden gems that make a space truly yours without costing a fortune. It's all about being creative and knowing where to look! One of my absolute favorite hacks is thrifting for unique furniture pieces. I know it can seem daunting, but places like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or even local charity shops often have solid wood pieces that just need a little TLC. My latest find was a small bedside table that I snagged for $15! A quick sanding and a coat of spray paint transformed it into something that looks brand new. Don't be afraid to envision what a piece could be, not just what it is. I've even seen people find old movie posters or book covers, like those 'Sharkwater' or 'Jaws' themed ones I saw in an image, and frame them for super unique wall art – way cheaper than gallery prints! Another game-changer for me has been exploring online marketplaces. Facebook Marketplace is a goldmine! People are constantly giving away or selling gently used items for next to nothing. I've scored everything from cozy throw pillows to small shelving units. Just be sure to check the item's condition and arrange safe meet-ups. It’s amazing what treasures you can find just by browsing locally. And for those of us who love a good scent, but can't splurge on high-end candles, look for dupes or smaller brands. I've found some amazing 'lilac bouquets' and 'dewy greens' scented candles that evoke that expensive feel without the price tag. Keep an eye out for sales at places like Target or even craft stores for candle-making supplies if you're feeling adventurous – a DIY candle can be a super personal touch! You can even reuse your emptied candle jars, like the ones that might have held a 'WHITE BARN FRESH CUT LILACS' candle, for storage or small plants. Finally, don't underestimate the power of textiles. A few strategically placed throw blankets or pillows can completely change the vibe of a room. I always hit up the clearance sections at home goods stores or even discount retailers like Ross and TJ Maxx. You'd be surprised at the stylish options you can find for under $20. It's an instant way to add warmth and texture. Remember, decorating on a budget isn't about sacrificing style; it's about being smart and resourceful. Happy decorating, friends!
